I just wanted to thank you for this info! I have a 2020 Tundra and was told by the dealer that I could only remote start it using the smartphone app... which is presently not working. I tried this and it worked flawlessly! Funny that YouTube is so much more informative than their own paid "product specialist." Thanks again!

Just FYI for those who've been looking for it like me:

This information is great. I have a Toyota Highlander 2020 Platinum trim, the specifications of the car indicated that it had remote start; but the dealership did not show me how to do it. Instead, I was told that I had to get an aftermarket installation (which meant more money) because I did not pay for remote start. However, after reading the owner's manual and watching several videos on YouTube, I realized and learned how to remote start my vehicle with the key fob. It is unfortunate that I had to figure out several features of the vehicle on my own, after spending so much money to purchase the vehicle. Owner's continue to search for features that the Highlander 2020 has, you will be surprised and delighted. You need to get the worth of your money by using all features.
On another note, I think that dealerships need to learn all features of the cars that they sell to better informed buyers, and not have them spend unnecessary money to enhance their cars with features that were already included by the manufacturer of the vehicle.

I install remote car starters and although we loose the sale it's nice to see people react when you tell them you already have a starter. Actually most still get it if they need more range then oem remote.
