The caves also has a bunch och funny world generation consistencies that are worth checking out and learning! If you want to find Hutch for example you need to visit the muddy biome on a non-ruins branch where he will be close to a few slurtle mounds

I’ve found that the theater set piece will spawn in the triple tusk biome if the map has one. Otherwise, it will spawn in a meadow biome not too far from the main spawn. So if you find the theater in a meadow area early on, and you know you’re not in a triple tusk biome, you can be pretty sure it’s a single tusk map.

This video would've been interesting to me as a Don't Starve Together player since 2016 in general, but especially right NOW, because guess what? The latest server I started, has been an Adventure in Worldgen, so hearing details about how exactly worldgen itself works, is PERFECT right now! :)

My current DST world has both unexpected and _expected_ weirdness about how it generated. One part of that weirdness, is that I deliberately set almost everything to "None", for a challenge--so sometimes I can't quite tell WHICH biome this area was, originally. I'm like "Well, it has green grass, so it could (one of five things)..."

But that's expected, that it'd be mostly empty. I did that on purpose. What WASN'T exected was the fact that when I explored to the (mainland) map's northernmost edge, I found out I could....WALK to the Lunar "Island". I did nothing to the landscape-itself settings--loop, branch, roads, etc. Just, Lunar Peninsula. If I want to balance out my sanity, I can just stroll over there and get Enlightened.

Anyway, rambling aside, my point IS, that things like that are part of _why_ I find worldgen in procedural games in general and in Don't Starve in particular, to be so interesting. Sometimes it does something REALLY FREAKING WEIRD! and make you curious about: What exactly in the code caused/allowed that? How likely is it? Etc. Knowing the pattern of where and how biomes tend to appear, can help narrow that down.

And then, there was my other fave Worldgen Weirdness Moment of all time: The Oasis Catcoon. Long story short, the birch trees at the oasis apparently used to trigger the "this is a birch forest, so put birch foresty things in it" code, and I ended up with the CUTEST summer nights, fishing by the pond, that you ever did see. :)

As someone who has played over 1k hours of DST, all of this information so far lines up with my experiences! Which is good to know, since it means that even with only a sample size of 100 you managed to get very accurate data :D! Well done!

I've noticed the random biomes spawning next to oasis tend to be specifically the killer bees, spider quarry, and 2nd meteor field biomes. From what I could tell (and I might be wrong about this), if any of those three biomes spawn in a world, at least one will always be -in front of- (Edit:) adjacent to the oasis.
Great video! We frankly don't have enough of them that cover this topic :)
I'm curious, will you be planning on doing a caves version of this?

I’ve noticed that the oasis desert always spawns next to 1) A killer bee biome, 2) A Triple-Mac biome, or 3) is connected to the Dragonfly desert. The Killer bee biome usually has some forest turf and a sinkhole also.

Hey, I've been debating on making this comment for a while now, and ultimately went with posting it on an alt account so it can't be tracked back to me. Lol. I just wanted to say that, while I was dealing with a rough patch in my life, watching your videos really helped me out. Especially since I was coming to terms with being trans at the time, and hearing your name/your character's name being Terra (I go by Tara!) really hit the fuzzies for me lol. I always look forward to seeing a new upload from you, even if it's a shorter one like this, and I can't wait for the next one.♥

Also, Terra's art is super cute! Still not sure if she's just a character or your self insert, but 10/10, would headpat.

Hello! As player, which have 3600+ hours i can say it's really useful for beginners or other people, who don't know about world gen tricks. Will you do the same with caves generation?Like blue mushroom forest, which leads to lunar grotto, always connects to orange biome (which connected with ruins) and etc.

Swamp is quite common place for Chester spawn

I played DST in 2015 and most of my words were generated with pig king biom close to dragonfly biom. I don't know if it was old biom spawn or what, but I was pretty sure it was 100% guarantee.

I think there should always be some kind of rock biome. It's kind of a bummer to not have one on the surface especially for early.

Also you said 2nd meteor biome, but what's the first?

I have a theory that Chester eyebone placement isn't a guaranteed single spot but is instead rolled with a % chance with many spots. I know it sounds weird but he's just so consistently found early game, no matter where I am. Either that or I'm just extremely lucky!

On console world gen chester either spawns at Triple mctusk biome or Multiple bees biome or randomly on the world. Console worldgen is very different from PC.

When it comes to Don't Starve Together Worldgen, idk if this is a Nintendo Switch only thing but on rare occasions my Pig King deciduous will unexcpectedly merge with... The Dragonfly Desert Lava Ponds
