I think it would be worthwhile to mention to calculus students that if the domain is made of multiple intervals, instead of a single contiguous interval, then the constant of antidifferentiation can be different for each of the intervals. For example, the derivative of ln(–x) + 2 for x < 0 and ln(x) + 5 for x > 0 is still 1/x.
