I am a long time user of Ubuntu on my laptop, and am currently using 16.04.3. I love it, particularly with Unity.
That looks to be a very straightforward operation, even to someone like me who can be daunted by too much technical complexity! :-)
I have some questions:
- Is this an irreversible action? In other words, if the user wanted to revert to Android could he or she?
- Would the device then be able to use Android applications, particularly for e-mail, media playing, etc.?
- How are security concerns (updates) addressed?

I remember when this was officially supported by Canonical. I knew there was a strong community but I'm glad that I was wrong in think it died when it lost official support.

UPDATE: After over 8 hours of frustration trying to install Ubuntu touch on a New Nexus 5 using Windows 10, Linux Mint and Gallium OS, I fired-up an old Mac Pro, installed Android Studio (for the drivers as I did in WIndows and LInux) the Installation completed without an issue in a matter of mins.

Works up until the point where the phone boots to the UBPorts recovery. The the installer is stuck at "Waiting for device to enter recovery mode". Is there a way to manually point to the ubuntu touch zip or have they not been copied at this point? Any guidance is appreciated!

With the Nexus 5 it's easy peasy, thanks to the great work of UBports. But with the Xaiomi Mi A2 it's much more complicated.
