I love that Joey Swoll not only calls out people, but also explains the exercise in the video that's getting criticized and what muscles it targets.

Every week James shows me why I own a home gym

7:03 notice how when she turns her face the face filter kicks in and alters her face's shape noticeably.

These people bully others but still can't come to terms with how they look. Poetic

The girls laughing at the dynamic stretching blows my mind. It is such a common and well known routine and so common to see in gyms!
What the actual f? That is one of my go to warmups and never have I seen anybody bat an eye. Because why would they, it makes absolute sense to do for anybody remotely knowledgeable about physiology.

I think adding a positive and encouraging short at the end of your video is a really awesome idea and it helps remind others that there are still amazing people in the gym that are there to support you

You know, it's really sad this is the state of gym culture. I used to tell people who were intimidated by the idea of going to the gym that it was such a friendly place where if you need help, someone will come and show you how to do whatever it is you're trying to do. Now though? You got these people with asses with more plastic than Barbie coming in and just straight bullying random people for ACTUALLY using the gym for it's intended purpose. Ever notice none of these influencers have ever even broken a sweat? Jesus...

These snippits of gym toxicity are interesting and entertaining, but I am glad that I have never encounter anything like this where I go to the gym. I am glad that my gym has a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

I’ve been an avid “mind your own business” promoter for years. Glad Joey Swole is out here pointing out why you should

This is the shit that literally stop people from starting out in the gym. People had enough of these worries before Tik Tok and Instagram blew up, but now it's a realised fear.

The way Joey talks about it is like a parent scolding a child on their bad behaviour, which is literally that, children misbehaving in the gym.

Reminder: If you see a camera on a tripod at the gym, you're obligated to ruin their video. Flash a light at the camera or a laser pointer. Block the camera and pretend like you didn't notice. Make a complaint to gym staff.

The sooner we get these idiots out of the gym, the sooner the gym gets back to normal.

That final clip is how everyone should be at any gym, mind your own business unless someone is clearly needing a hand or is in distress, its that simple!

Did anyone else notice the delay on the filter at 7:03 for the backward treadmill guy?

I laughed.

I've been that guy going backwards on the treadmill at the gym too, it really helps after knee surgery as it's a reliable safe way to put pressure through my knee without much impact. Sure you get a few funny looks - but at least there's no dickheads filming me (that I know of...)

backwards treadmill is a damn good exercise, used it for the first time after knee surgery and it has done amazing things for my stability

6:50 - walking backwards on the treadmill is _EXCELLENT_ for your tibialis-anterior. If you wanted to do this loaded, you'd want to drag a sled with a rope. It's basically a very, very small -- and almost always under-developed - muscle on the front of your shin, that basically acts as the antagonist to a calf.

I'm the kind of person that struggles to work from home, and I actually really enjoy the atmosphere of the gym being a different place. I know what I'm there to do, and seeing others motivates me. None of this crap happens there, though there has been 1 cat-backed deadlifting influencer. I'd be devastated if one of my happy places became so toxic.

There's a guy at my gym, average height and fairly slim build but he deadlifts quite a heavy weight. In between sets, he jogs on the spot constantly, only small steps though. To most people it might look or seem odd but what do I do? Think for more than two seconds, engage my brain and conclude he's prob keeping his legs muscles warmed up between sets. Then I mind my own business

Joey Swoll is the best thing to happen...the people who get called out by him often delete their social media accounts.
