People say how could Sokka abandon his child, he would never! Well, it’s always possible that toph never told him-

I do believe Sokka and Toph could've been a one night deal. It seems reasonable to think Sokka never married Suki, since his heart truly belonged to Yue. And we get a glimpse on how serious Toph was about her job so I can see her not wanting any commitment. And I can see Sokka being way to busy with being a Chief.
It may very well be that Toph never told Sokka, since we know a year later after Toph destroyed the evidence and banished Su, we can assume she then decided to leave to the swamp.

another one for the yes column is Suyin's love of meteors. Sokka gave toph a leftover bit of one from his moon sword, that she turned into a bracelet that she carried with her for life.

I don't know why people keep saying Sokka can't be the father, simply because "family was important to him." Well, Aang probably wanted to be a good father but he wasn't there all the time, and he didn't mean for it to happen but he gave more time to Tenzin.

For me, that was disheartening. I hoped that him and Katara would've had a big happy family but it didn't turn out like that. The same with Toph having a distant relationship with her daughters. Nothing from ATLA turned out perfect in LoK. So, it wouldn't be unreasonable to speculate that Sokka's values changed or something happened.

For Sokka, family is very important. His father, his sister and her mother even though he was not as attached to her as Katara was. So him having a girl with Toph and let her raise her alone would never happen.

I do think Sokka is the father. With the warrior lifestyle he lived, it's likely that he died when Su Yin was very young. We also dont see any scenes with Sokka as an old man to back that part up. Sokka would definitely not be a deadbeat dad, but if the need arose, he'd have picked up his sword. Plus I like to think that Toph's childhood crush played out.

Since everyone's sharing their theories imma share mine:

Knowing Suki, she's the type to fight til the death with her kyoshi warriors. I think that she died in battle. Sokka, probably heartbroken by this, he goes to Toph for comfort (they were really close so he probably went to her first then Kataag). He then notices the strong feelings they had for each other, not as strong as his feelings for Yue, but still pretty strong. Then they had one night stand. No actual relationship, just one single nightstand. Toph finds out she's pregnant, but never tells Sokka. I agree with the other theories saying that he'll never leave his daughter and Toph alone, so it's either Toph never told him or Sokka died before she got the chance

I still think Sokka is Suyin's father
If you haven't noticed Suyin has darker skin than Toph and Lin. I also don't believe that Sokka and Suki ended up together, also the issue of the fact that Toph had to raise her girls herself is because, I think Toph didn't tell Sokka that he was the father because it was a fling, Toph has always been someone who found it hard to show emotions and express her feelings, so when she found out about the pregnancy she kept it to herself and didn't tell anyone.

Maybe he is Su's father and he was around Su when she was a kid but Toph and Sokka never told her that he was her father.

Sokka probably married Suki in tbe southern watertribe and they had a daughter named Senna after that Suki dies as a warrior in some battle.. the heartbroken Sokka finds comfort with Toph in republic city. he became part of the Republic city's council and had Su Yin.

I got it so some time after suki dies sokka begins to visit toph and her daughter lin more frequently. An escape from a lonely home and grief he visits them. He plays with lin, they share meals, together sip tea and talk. One night after tucking lin to bed he opens up about how he and suki always wanted children. He leans in and kisses toph but she steps back because she doesnt want it if it's coming from a place of grief. She wishes him a good night goes to bed troubled but hopeful that maybe after all these years, maybe all the time he spent with her and her daughter it's so close to what it could be. Shes restless and sees sokka sitting alone in the moonlight looking at the stars. She takes his hand and quietly tells him to come inside. He slowly holds onto her hand, raises his eyes too look into hers. He touches her illuminated face with the back of his hand, Whispers, " thanks for always having my back." They embrace and feel the tension rise between each other. They awkwardly let go of each other and quckly go back to the house. But as they say goodnight sokka doesnt go back to his room he stares at his feet and stands his ground. Toph goes to her room, but leaves the door open. Sokka follows

It stays this way secretly and discreetly for maybe a month. Toph realizes shes pregnant. Shes hopeful and excited to share the news but as she was about to reveal it to sokka he painfully says that this needs to stop. He confesses that he loves her and that this happiness they've shared as a little family is too close to what could have been if suki didnt die. It's painful and raw and the life they would have together would be shared with his grief of suki he couldn't commit his heart to her completely he doesnt know if he ever could....so she stays quiet and let's him go. The time they shared together is over but the proof of that love stays with her, she protects it, shelters, and is a secret she guards to herself forever.

I just love sokka so much and toph is my favorite so i ship them with all my hearth
Edit: i just realized toph was the only one who loved sokka for how he was. She just fall in love with a guy who was makeing her lough and feel safe without knowing how he looks like. Srry if my english is bad but i just wanted to say this cuz i feel it is so cute and romantic

I just believe The Duke was Lin's father and Sokka is Su's father and he died before he knew toph was pregnant.. something like that 🤨

This idea's in my head ever since watching the video.


Okay here it goes.


Sokka and Suki have been together for a long time, and are engaged. Toph just broke up with Kanto after giving birth to Lin.


A terrorist group who is running throughout Republic City is making riots throughout the city, killing Suki in the process.


A grief stricken Sokka drinks his woes away. Not only has he lost Yue, he has lost Suki. Toph can’t bare to see her best friend being the shell he is. He was there for Toph when she broke up with Kanto, so she was going to help Sokka see through this, no matter what.


One night, Toph is at his place, and tries to cook and clean for him when he can’t. A half drunken Sokka kisses her, wanting to connect with a woman at least. Taken a back, Toph wants to respect the fact that Sokka was still in mourning, and hooking up was not a good idea.


But all those years of unrequited pining ever since they were preteens could finally pay off. This was the moment she had been dreaming of since she was twelve.


So that night, they made love.


That night was the night she fell pregnant again (this is Suyin).


(In the video, it is said that Sokka would never be a deadbeat dad, though being the prideful person Toph is, I can see her not telling him, being ashamed of the mistake they made that night. And well, since Nick didn’t mention if Sokka ever got married and have kids of his own, hey may have passed away, since he was a warrior, so.)
