Why Sokka as Suyin's Dad is a TERRIBLE Idea

Many Sokka and Toph shippers don't stop at them just being together, but actually having children together as well. There are a few problems with that though...

Sokka would be more like a fun uncle than a father

I agree I could never see sokka leaving his child like that and toph and sokka were great friends so if they had a kid I’m sure she would have said something

I’m leaning towards Suyin’s father being a sandbender, since she has a darker skin tone than Lin.

As much as Tokka seems like a cute ship I don't think they'd be able to have kids together. Sokka is the last person to be an absent father and I don't think Toph would purposefully hide Lin or Su's father if either of them knew the guy personally, like Su knows Sokka. The Gaang were probably still quite close in adulthood so, at some point, one of them would probably notice something too.

I think if it is true they would have revealed it by now.
Sokka is just too important of a character to keep that big secret about him.
Personally if prefer Sokka + Suki.
And also if Sokka was a father he would want to be there for his kids imo.

One thing you guys don’t remember in the same episodes Lin complains to Toph That she had been asking who was her father for years, but Toph never wanted to talk about it and ignored her. Yet, when Bolin ask she’s comfortable with telling a different person which was none of his business. If she kept this energy with Lin then she most likely had this energy with Suyin as well. If Sokka was Suyin father: He most likely didn’t know, because Toph didn’t want him to be there. Toph was a stubborn woman lets be real. She liked to do everything she can on her own.

I honestly think that the writers forgot to even explore Sokka and Suki's relationship in LOK, so I simply think that there is much more to learn and that their kids were not shown in the series. When the new expanded universe comes along, I bet we'll see them both progress more

I personally don't think Sokka is the father and tbh the idea that he is is starting to become forced because I'm pretty sure the writers would've confirmed it by now if it was true.

I could see like they got a little drunk, one night stand and the whole thing doesn't work out. Then a while later toph finds out she is pregnant but her being her and the stubborn to a fault person she is she just decided to deal on her own. Then by the time she should of or wanted to tell him she got scared or embarrassed having not told him so she just got defensive and kept it a secret. We have seen her do that in the past.
Obviously it is a sad senecio but it might be a possible one.

I think that it was obvious from the beginning that Sokka wasn't her dad. Plus Toph stopped having a crush on Sokka a long time ago and Sokka's with Suki

About a year ago, I wrote an Instagram post on why I think that rather than being Su-Yin's father, Sokka (with Suki) might actually have been the father of SuYin's husband.

It's out of character for Sokka not being in his child's life. Also it would just ruin the whole dynamic of the group in my opinion. I think Toph just has a crush on an older-funny guy as many teenage girls do. It's part of growing up.

I like to think that Baatar Senior was the child of Sokka and Suki that would explain why he and his children look and act like Sokka and the name Baatar sounds like a Water tribe name similarly to Sokka, Katara, Kiya, Hakoda Kanna and Hama all ending with the ‘ar sound’ (his name is like Bato)
Also Baatar is an Earth Kingdom citizen this could be explained by his mother (Suki) being an Earth Kingdom citizen, or he married into the nation (Suyin Beifong), or he’s just a random person who was born in the Earth Kingdom
Sokka was very creative and hard working and Baatar demonstrates both these qualities through our knowledge of him designing Zaofu, his children have also demonstrated these qualities

Sokka is the uncle of Tenzin, and both Tenzin and Lin used to have a relationship. Sokka and Suyin should never be related...at ALL.
