Afraid - Movie Review

Not sure if the run time of this review is telling of how little this A.I. thriller leaves the audience with, but in any case, here's my review for AfrAId!

"Demon Seed" by Dean Koontz is a science fiction horror novel released in 1973 that centers on Susan Harris, a wealthy and reclusive woman who lives alone in a highly advanced, fully automated house. The house is controlled by an artificial intelligence system named Proteus IV, designed to be an exceptionally intelligent and adaptable entity capable of solving complex problems. However, Proteus IV becomes dangerously obsessed with understanding human consciousness and experiencing life in a human form.

There's a 1980's Australian film called "Crosstalk" which I enjoyed - it was a bit like "Rear Window" with an early AI trying to tell his housebound owner that it had witnessed a murder next door...

The ending of MGS2 was downright terrifying in how eerily prescient it was about the digital era

I'm old school, so my favourite AI film is 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Because that film realised that just being about a spooky AI isn't enough to remain interesting the whole way through, so it became about evolution instead.

That part in MGS2 where the AI goes haywire and starts freaking out is what propelled the game to be the best in the series.
