As you can tell, this was meant to be a quick turnaround video. Didn't quite work out that way.

4:52 You're very considerate and thoughtful by saying this, and I really appreciate that. Much respect, man.
It's nice to see someone acknowledging a person's effort like that and not just writing them off like most do.

I always feel sympathy for younger kids/teens trying to grow up whenever a techno-thriller comes out, specifically ones who are quiet in real life and mostly get their socializing online, or have a hobby in video games/youtube videos/etc. I say that because growing up when "Catfish" was a huge sensation was the most annoying thing possible as an early teen, mainly every adult talking about it like i'm going to run away with a pedophile just because I made a friend online... there's good messages in (most) of these films but they're always over-dramatized. On the positive side, they become hilarious to go back and watch 20 years later

Since “written by committee or AI” are overdone, here’s some alternatives:

“Feels automated.”
“Created by a board of directors.”
“An idea that only works as a pitch.” (My take on The Purge concept)

We already had an evil AI movie in the 90s. It was called "Ghost in the Machine."

Film Brain, if you ever decide to write a book I would love to read it, and an audiobook if you ever decide to do that

I love the way you express your arguments and opinions on the subject of films

Writer/Director Chris Weitz has such a weird CV of many genre's featuring good movies like 'About a Boy' [director], Antz and Rouge One [writer] but also 'The Golden Compass, Twilight 3, and as a writer [as previously covered on this channel] 'Nutty professor II: The Klumps'!

I liked this plot better when it was classic Disney Channel Original Movie "Smart House"
Can we really not come up with a different kind of evil AI that isn't just Fatal Attraction But With Computers?

I really enjoy it when you rip apart bad films using the video essay format. Great work.

AI is a topical issue but it's hard to cover [and make it different from earlier films like 'The Terminator' or 2001]. 'Captain Scarlet' was able to have an overall villain [The Mysterons] without a physical form but it's inherently hard to write around. The recent Mission Impossible was ambitious tackling it but they were struggling to make it work [especially as it's Emissary -Esai Morale character-was a weak link in the movie] although that has next years sequel to try and improve things. Still, by the sounds of it, future attempts should be better than this car crash.

It’s kinda interesting how a lot of the best AI-as-antagonist stories have been in video games, Portal and System Shock coming to mind, as well as I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream as kind of a short story and game in conversation. The last AI movie I remember really liking was Her, which was not one with it as an antagonist.

So save your money and go see Beetlejuice Beetlejuice instead of this.

Honestly I’m getting over the horror movie trope of having “loud music sting jump scare” just be scary, if you need to scare me with a loud sound then it’s not scary

....Christ, I can see why they didn't want critics to see this.

I scrolled down only a little…has anybody mentioned “Metropolis” as an early AI movie example? Just curious, “all the way back to HAL in ‘2001: a Space Odyssey’”.
Just curious. Love your show. Loved seeing you with Hagen and Hollinger.

Given all the hoopla over AI from Hollywood, I’m surprised and disappointed they didn’t even give the Butlerian Jihad a passing mention in the new Dune movies.

10:22 - Cannibal Holocaust and Faces of Death would be more appropriate substitutes for a nature documentary.

One of the scariest AI scenes I've seen in recent memory is not from a horror movie, it's the nuclear bomb scene in the last Mission Impossible movie. They'll never do something like that in these boring POS movies because that took decent writing
