Engineering is a ART! Audio Engineers are ARTIST!

I think we care so much about what others think and we don’t actually just focus on what we think every engineer will do the mix different so it doesn’t make sense to focus on their opinion when it’s your song just make it sound good and over time you will make it better and better

People think that you need to use all sorts of compressors and eqs a certain way but it’s a matter of what the vibe is of a song you’re making and what makes it sound good. For example the song “Immortal” by J.cole he barely used any effects just slight eq and maybe a little compression and that’s all

I literally use blankets and a little stand as a vocal booth. The vocals sound better than they ever did instead of paying for all this noise canceling and room tuning stuff. I just humbled myself, got on the floor and made this ghetto booth. You can honestly find creative ways to use what you have instead of wishing for what you don't. You can literally hear how much fun I'm having right now. I cant wait to release the last couple of tracks. This man just keeps inspiring me to be grateful for what I have and just WORK

You took the words right out of my mouth before you said it, about sound selections being clutch & key.

1:47 look at it like this.
Record your vocals in such a way that you won't mind leaving them unmixed.

Sky my bro... the amount of times I've mentioned you in Bricksdamane's producer pathway forum is unreal.

Because YOU showed us that we don't need expensive equipment to record hot vocals.

I was using Cubilux Hi Res earphones with the in line mic after seeing what you do on this channel.

Currently my favourite mic is my secondhand Rode Videomic ME-C (USB C) - they make one called ME-L for lightning (Apple) connection.

All I use is a cheap a** mic and CLA Vocals. For further processing I have bought only the necessary Waves plug-ins (four or five) to polish and perfect the sound.

Its simple. Its cheap. Its logical.

I moderate the forum for Bricks; lmk if you wanna join and I'll share the link.

I had to mix a full album and 90 percent of the vocal buss was claning and fixing and he refused to re-record and vocal. I still got it done but will never do that again took to much time

Sky's the limit! Pun intended. Keep doing what you're doing. Kind of reminds me of myself during the infancy years. It's information overload out there. Don't use that. Don't use this eq don't use this compressor, reverb, . and delay. Always gain stage. It's all about trial and error. All you have to do is keep recording. Eventually, it'll all fall in place. You just have to stay the course, and your mixes will soon translate, just be yourself. There is some great advice out there. You just have to be able to see through the bullshit. Marketing is an MF. Thanks for sharing the information, and thanks for what you do for the recording community.

Yo i got a question - do you think I'd get a higher quality vocal recorded if i switched from a usb mic and went back to an xlr sm58?

Sky, you are wrong… The only way to mix, is the way that I think is correct. And that’s what matters. LOL… Great content to my guy. Keep it up.

2:28 Boy B cookin.
Word!
I’m from Maryland but been in the South for 21 years. I hate to hear dudes from up north rap on southern beats.
They don’t use the correct cadence or have that southern slang for the energy of the beat. That’s why I can’t listen to Meek
