Soffit Repair: How to Do It Yourself 👍 #shorts #carpentry #homeimprovement
Показать описание
Does your house need soffit repair? Want to learn how to do it yourself? Watch the transformation of this soffit repair. First you need to use a knife or a multi tool to cut through the existing caulk around the perimeter of the soffit. In this case it was pretty easy because the caulk was very old.
Next you want to remove any crown molding in the section of soffit that you will remove. Then grab a pry bar and a hammer. Wedge your pry bar into the gap at the edge of the soffit after you cut the caulk and position it so it hooks to inside of the soffit. Give a tug to get your nails to pop out a little. Next position your pry bar or the claw of your hammer and start pulling nails.
Once you have less nails you can pry the soffit down easier until it pops off. Be careful of dust and debris falling in your eyes, so wear some glasses. In this video, the board was so rotten that it just crumbled away piece by piece. You will also notice the angry ants leaving the area that they once called home. A good reminder of why it is important to keep your eaves in good repair.
Once everything is cleared out you will take your measurements and cut your replacement plywood. Nail it back into place, reattach your crown molding, caulk your seams, fill your nail holes and then it's ready to prime and paint.
