A Word of Caution About Vented Soffit

To maximize the incoming intake airflow into the attic, use fully vented soffit. In this video from our annual Ask the Expert seminars, Paul Scelsi explains that unless it’s fully vented soffit, the vent may not be providing enough intake airflow. Vented soffit panels are also discussed in our podcast with Pond Roofing Company.

I like his enthusiasm for such a boring item 😃

The more things heat up, the more any convective current for cooling should not be limited. Much like a carburetor, the limiting factor of performance is the air intake.
I'll allow you to use that. :)

I have full T-4 vented panels in every other bay, soffit has no plywood is fully open. I hardly feel any air flowing through. I should be getting 9" of NFA per panel, but don't feel like that is the case. If I go full vented in every bay / panel, what happens if it throws off the 'equal intake and exhaust ratio"?

Make sure every panel is vented and use the whole overhang or else this guy will come looking for you

Better yet. Build a conditioned attic and don’t vent at all.

It’s ugly! Build a conditioned attic and you won’t need it zippy.
