I’m going to buy a7 iv. The most important difference between Sony and the other companies is the 3th party lens options. There’s too many quality and less expensive lenses for Sony cameras.

I ordered the R6 Mk II. It was a no-brainer for me, I've been shooting with Canon cameras for a long time and I'm heavily invested in their lenses. I've always been happy with the results. That being said, I think Fuji, Nikon & Sony etc. all make really great systems. Competition keeps innovation moving! Cheers!

If the R6II had been released initially I probably would have stuck with Canon. But even though they're now more similar, it *really* still shines a light on the difference of lens options/prices. Thanks for the insights Josh!

A very good and fair video. I like it.

I‘m very sure the A7 IV is a great camera, with maybe a bit more dynamic range and high ISO. But for me, as a sports and action shooter, there is no way to buy the Sony camera. It‘s not only the 10 fps vs 40 fps. If I want to have a live picture in my viewfinder and an uncompressed raw file, or lossless compressed raw file, we talk about 6-8 fps mechanical with the Sony I heard. Good luck there is a camera for all of us, no matter what kind of photography we do.

I ordered my R6 II yesterday and think it‘s the right camera for me. 🙂

I use a Sony A74 for video and its focus tracking is tremendous. It has something the Canon still does not have: a full sized HDMI port. Those micro HDMI ports are just, well ... crap. And for me, that's why I use the Canon mainly for photos. I will use it for B roll video. I'm glad Canon finally fixed the video record limit. The Sony and Canon are highly capable and the features in both make life a lot easier.

Thanks for sharing. It would be great to see a comparison between the R6 II & the A7sIII for video. I think Canon may have done enough to prevent me from switching to Sony, but still not completely decided. Sony still wins in terms of lens options. Though the SIII costs more, it can be purchased used for a similar price given its age.

The only Canon camera which interests me is R3, yes even after the praised R6 mii. R3 is the only Canon mirrorless which provides any substantial all-i codecs.

Why does the footage from Canon look like it has more depth. Sony are always said to have better dynamic range, but I can usually tell Sony apart from Canon because Sony's colours seem flatter. It's as though Sony's range is broader, but the steps in between are larger if that makes sense?

When you get the R6ii, can you show us how the hdmi-out works such as does it disable the rear LCD touch screen? And not just for clean-hdmi because I use the hud/on-screen-displays a lot.

For Sports or Wildlife, Canon is so far ahead of Sony, both shooting speed but also crucially the sensor readout speed of the R6 blow the A7iV out of the water.

I love how most RF lenses have OIS even the cheaper non L lenses where Sony and Tamron/Sigma don't and for video OIS helps at least for my family videos and vacation walk arounds. Tis is the reason I took my R6 with the RF-L 24-105 and RF-L 70-200 to a recent European trip instead of my A74 with the Sigma 24-70. Also my 200-600 OIS in video is horrible compared to the RF 100-500. The problem is that the RF 100-500 with R6 was not enough for BIF reach so I sold it and kept the 200-600 Sony. I'm at a cross roads. Do I stay with Canon and get the R6mk2 and keep the Ro but sell all the Sony or just keep what I have. For BIF, wildlife, sports its A74 / 200-600. For serious photos its A74 with the Sigma 24-70 F2.8. For every day photography and video its the R6 with my RF lenses. For vlogs its my Sony w 28mm f2 because of the shutter priority mode which now exists on R6Mk2. For nature wildlife video its the R6 because of the OIS in Canon lenses. Its a bit of a mess and I need to decide which way to go. Wish canon had an affordable 200-600 like the Sony.

What would you call "shorter recording sessions" ? @4:46. . I film mostly music videos, and event highlights.

If you start photography today go with the Canon R6 II, it's a much better camera on paper. I'm already on Sony's side with an A1 & A7IV but if I started today with a medium budget... R6 II all day

Rolling shutter is significantly worse in r6 than a7iv, why should we assume it’s better than a7iv in the r6ii ?
A7iv has relatively low rolling shutter, I don’t get why everyone says it’s so high, only the siii and a1 have faster read out.

For people who loves the colors straight out of the camera go for canon only ! By the way I own 2 bodies of a7iv, Fx 3 and sony a7siii

Would you recommend Canon R6 II for me over the A7S III?

There is a big price difference since I already have Canon RF 24-70mm F2.8 and if I step up to Sony game I will have to go with Sigma 28-70mm because of a budget.

I would shoot about 1 hour of 4k 24fps interviews and sometimes 4k 60fps for B-Roll and music videos.

One of the biggest (if not _the_ biggest) downside of Canon RP cameras like the R6 is, that you are forced to buy Canon lenses. So for similar quality sometimes you have to spend twice the money, e.g. a 24-70/2.8 (Canon vs Sigma Art). Usually one should have at least 3 or 4 lenses for such a camera. At a certain quality this would end in spending a not to low four figures sum more, having a Canon RP system. That’s why I went for Sony.

From a photo perspective, the 40fps may not be that impressive without a stacked sensor. Will be eager to rent and try out at a pro sporting event. Specs can appear amazing on paper, we’ll see

The R6II is a no brainer. It’s better than the A7IV in almost every regard and the A7V is just an R5. Sony is back to playing catch-up with everything besides the A1

Those looking to upgrade later will have the R5II to look forward to as opposed to an A7RV that matches a 2 year old R5
