That looks like a great scooter from a maintenance standpoint. Being able to take the battery indoors would be great for a student and a great anti-theft strategy too.

edit: 2:50 you can change the tune... press the direction indicator twice to the right and then twice to the left and you then enter a menu with tunes you can roam through and select with the same indicator button.

I dont see that silent running is a negative, plenty of cyclists cant be heard, you cant hear pedestrians running across the pavement. Silence is GOLDEN!

You can change the indicator sound. "Press and hold" to change it. It has quite a few options you can choose from.

Good video, thanks.

As of March 2022, it looks like there is a new version (same name) with a 4.6kW motor, coming in the standard or extended range options (different size batteries).

From the pictures it looks to me like the batteries may have been moved under the central foot platform, so this will give more space under the seat for storage.

The batteries staying unchanged may explain a slight decrease in range.

Price wise, the standard range seems in touch with what was mentioned in the video with the extended range battery option adding an extra £700 (tipping the price over £4000) for an extra 10 miles or range, which seems a lot, but it may be a case of having to pay for it if you want power and range.

I would say this moped would be overkill for going about town on 30 mph roads, but would be ideal for a semi-rural commute or if there is a need to pop on the dual-carriageway or motorway.

Also worth a mention is the MGT Evo, with 5kW motor for around the same price as the NGT extended range option. Slightly less range, but more power. However, the picture looks like the batteries are still under the seat in that model as the foot platform doesn't look thick enough to take them.

Thanks for putting the info of checking to make sure your insurance covers it! I was looking at one of these nearby for me, but now I'll double check with my insurance.

That indicator noise would be a godsend to me, and I suspect millions of others, too!

You can take out the back battery. It has another battery underneath your feet

"If you're interested in this machine keep watching", I was but I'm not any longer. I would be interested as to Mrs TMF' s reaction to you charging the batteries on the island unit!

If the back brake is on the left bar you're probably pulling it like a clutch and not with the same finesse you do with your right hand on a front brake. An example of this is in a car, in a safe place like a car park, try using the brake with your left foot and you'll find your face is on the windscreen unless you're really, really thinking about what you're doing.

What an interesting machine ... ! And with that read brake, you can easily drift through steep turns. Thanks for the review! :) Cheers

Good review, about the indicator, the sound can be Changed, the niu has around 10 sounds to chose from. Some really strange some really simple. There is a normal Blinking sound available

Try Lexham or Bennetts for Insurance. I got my Zero DS insured through Lexham. I do agree that new bikes (and especially new types of bikes) are hard to insure until they are on the system. In addition, if you are taking your A1 test on an electric, call well in advance because if it isn't on the DVLA test list, you're not going to be allowed to sit the Module 1 on it until it is.

Great videos on this bike, I really fancy one of these for town riding. I can see me buying one in the next few years.
Also, thank you for a year of fantastic high quality content. Really enjoyed your videos which never disappoint - looking forward to 2020!

as for range, yes you can do touring on it, if you plan sensibly and aren't in a rush. although in long-distance driving situations, it's advisable to get a few extra batteries (2 at least) and a few bike upgrades (storage for extra batteries, solar charger, ...); also keep in mind that you'll only be allowed to "take the scenic route" and not go on "highways" (requiring a speed of >50mph - in the US), but on the upside this might translate to a shorter route and longer range (if using EBS).

Did you find out that you can change the indicator sound?

Great review, quick question. If you remove batteries for charging and close the seat, as there will be no power how do you open it again? Is there a key?
