New for 2022 from NIU (pronounced 'new') electric scooter with a name you'd invent by playing scrabble in the dark; the MQi GT EVO, and our road tester Adam 'Chad' Child has been circumnavigating Peterborough to see what this 125cc equivalent can cope with.

I love the idea of changing my bike to electric, switched the car 2 years ago, but I have been disappointed with the models I have ridden so far. The claimed range have not been achieved, including leaving me pushing the Sur Ron Storm Bee back to the dealer.
I think this bike would be fine if I was just running around town, but the lack of storage does limit what chores can be done while there.
If I were to buy an electric scooter it would need to be the equivalent of a Bergman or tmax that would be comfortable on the motorway provide storage and have reasonable weather protection and ergonomics.

I have a Niu NGT and use it for commuting, I've done 5000 mile with it and it's brilliant. Charge it at work 😜 I really do enjoy it.

Considering these are actually in the same price range as most E-bikes, these make a lot more sense if you just want something to go from A-B in a built up area. Nice review!

Laughing all the way to the bank! Lol at all the car users bleeding their banks dry. Meanwhile 45p later. 3 top up charges in a week doing 100miles to my shift = all pay into my bank. My neighbour have just chucked in 90 quid for a week. You can keep the car now!

This car is very popular in China. It can be modified by adding a trunk at the back of the car for storage purposes, and can also be equipped with an anti drop bracket. Many objects can be hung on the bracket, and the battery can be upgraded. The range can reach 250 miles, and it only needs to be charged. It can be fully charged at home in one night

I have the 2020 model NQi GTS Pro. it's about 80-100cc equivalent. Limited to 45mph. Same range. It's a great bike. Iv'e done over 13, 000 miles on it.

At about 4:20 I think you’re talking about the ammeter? When you say “flow of speed”?? That shows power to the motor, or from the motor during regeneration. All EVs have one in some form

I have a Fly10, and my only issue with the other options and the bigger brands, is they need to put the batteries under the floor! My Fly10 has more room than any riding backpack due to its layout. Hub motor + Floor batteries = Hugee cargo space. Still the only medium sized moped I've seen with useable space, no saddlebags or backpacks needed :). Just wished bigger brands would jump in, add some more competition, and add some much needed (here in the US) public interest into mopeds. Over time I feel the appeal for these bikes will get bigger and bigger, they are the perfect combo of fun, cheap, reliable and usable.

My wife has an electric moped (styled like the Honda Grom). It does 50mph without issue. I agree with Bennetts on all points. A commuting tool, this is great.
The biggest difference on this UK model and the Asia model... Is that batteries there are just "swapped out" on a monthly subscription. Especially in Taiwan where there are thousands of battery swap stations all over. So range there is never an issue. If we could adopt that model in the UK we would have a brilliant solution

Love this video. Its great that there are city bikes now that can go 20kph over average city speed limits because that tells me it would go up a good hill at around 50kph without the rider having to pull over to the shoulder and annoy car drivers. Really exciting market and cheaper than quite a few e bicycles.

The stand looked dangerously low in the opening shot. Can any owners confirm if it’s an issue? I do like to lean my bikes.

It will be nice to have an adaptor to charge also on the public network.

in the Philippines.. there are categories for small EV's

(you don't need a license, just the papers that says you own it and didn't nick it from someone)

L2A&B 3 wheeled passenger / cargo EV
(you don't need a license, just the papers but you're limited to driving it on inner roads and not on major roads

L3 Electric Motorcycle
(any Electric 2 wheeled vehicle that can go faster than 60km/h and has a motor stronger than 1kw)

you'll need a proper license and have to register the vehicle

L4 Golf Carts, 4 wheeled electric leisure vehicles, etc

I would love an electric motorbike/scooter and already enjoy my electric bicycle. Unfortunately I would need double the 60 miles to make it work for me.

On a point of correctness electricity is considered to be an alternative fuel, albeit only 61% currently arising from fossil fuels.

I'm English but I live in Madeira. These are quite popular here, and they have a dealership in Funchal. I'm after after a little thing to zip about on. I might pop in and see if they'll let me take one out.

This is why I don’t like the M series because of the batteries are under seat, although it can be added an rear box which is I don’t like it(my preferences) I prefer the N series. Has ways of modifying the battery compartment like putting them together if you’re an NGT owner to free up the bucket seat. Watching from Shanghai😁
