I once visited a finnish friend at his cottage by a lake. He apologized because it was so crowded. It was quite a large lake, with a small islan in the middle, and with 4 cottages around it that you could barely see from his. That is 'crowded'.

Don't forget "The next door neighbor is only 49.8 kilometers away. It's a bit close for our taste but that's why it's so cheap."

i absolutely loved the finnish cottage holiday. Hiking through the beautiful woods and going to the sauna afterwards. THAT was the definition of relaxing

I'm Finnish born and raised, I absolutely loved cottage holidays just chilling, no one bothering so quiet and ugh.. a freezing cold dip in a lake after a sauna that's the best.

Staying in a Finnish Mökki in the middle of nowhere was one of the best things I have ever done.
It's so relaxing...

We are satisfied with so little, that even the smaller things make us happy, and thus enjoy life.
