I work with offices in Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Germany. As frustrated as I get not being able to progress work for a whole month I think I'm mostly just jealous. Sounds incredible.

"I see lake and trees. Where am I going?"

Apparently he was a good person and went to the Finnish heaven.

It's great to be the guy who is not on a holiday in July. It's so calm.

As a Swede I would confirm this but I'm on Holidays until mid August and have no internet in my summer cottage

Norway basically does this too. We do not shut down entirely. An entire office filled with like 200 people normally might have something like 5-30 people max during certain weeks of the summer.

Literally never even considered the fact that this might be seen as a weird thing 😂😂😂

I lived and worked in London for a decade. This pain was very real every summer when trying to get anything done with the Finnish offices or freelancers even. Finland just ceases to exist for a month and it is incomprehensible in the UK context. 😂 (And in the UK, the longest break I was ever able to get from work was two weeks... 😥)

Here in Spain, everyone takes August off (July is tourist season) and go out to their villages where their grandparents live, and just spend their time there

In Denmark we have something called industrial holiday.
3 weeks every summer.
You have 6 weeks paid vaccination pr year.
Education is free, doctors and hospitals are free, free dentist til you are 18.
You get financial support when you go to university, and a lot of other stuff. And that is why the tax is so high.

Not just Finland. The Swedes vanish as well. The Poles and Bulgarians vanish at about the same time.

Our cottage has solar panels so we have enough energy for a small fridge and phones. And although we don't have water toilet, the toilet we have is clean. Cottage in the woods on lake shore is must for Finnish summer. Now excuse me, I'm going fishing ❤

Since we don't have light for the most of the year we gotta get some compensation on summer ;)

August for Italy, nearly all the factories and truckers stop work for 3-4 weeks, I can't speak for southern Italy, but the north does this. I think it's a great idea!

Me: People collect the holiday days and use them afterward. Not everyone is off during summer, but most commonly, if the holiday season: everyone will be off.

I laugh at this so badly, hyvää kesää <33
