Which method is the best way for packing a suitcase? I will compare each way to pack your travel wardrobe: the konmari folding method, packing cubes, folding versus rolling, and the army roll (or ranger method). Some of these methods for packing will be quicker than the others. Some ways help you be organized in a carry-on suitcase. With any of theses methods, you will be more efficient at packing. At the end I will give you three main tips that help after comparing these packing methods. #packing #howtopack

I’ve been using 2 gallon freezer bags to pack my shirts and pants in. I fold shirts flat into halves(or thirds). Lay the bags on my bed almost zipped up then lean on top, squishing out air and finish zipping. Works like a charm. Been doing this for years!

I use a combination of fold an roll and pack in packing cube. I bring an empty spray bottle and fill with water to spray my clothes and then shake the item to remove wrinkles. Works great.!

I like compression cubes because of the space saving ability and organization. I can organize by clothing type or by day. For example, when we go out west and we have a few days of driving, I can group my outfits and my little boys outfits together by "hotel stop." Day 1 together, day 2, etc. Then I just grab a cube rather than having to dig through my luggage, my kids luggage, etc. Our stuff is grouped together and I just grab one cube!

A packing list is ESSENTIAL for me. I feel about 85% ready to go after I have the list. Packing Cubes have changed the game for me. They allow my suitcase to be ORGANIZED. This will seem too extra to some people, but when we arrived at our destination, we wrote the contents of each cube on a 3x5 card and slipped that card in the cube. That step also made our packing to go home a breeze. We now always leave the 3x5 cards in the cubes to give us sort of a master packing plan for each trip. I know this video was more about stacking, rolling, folding methods. Truthfully, I’m not too good with any of it, so I just try to bring mostly mix and match clothing and get it in the cubes the best way I can, which varies. I probably should pick a method and try to get good at it, but — we’ll see!

As a 6ft tall, plus size woman, I experimented with multiple techniques to accommodate my pants & shoe size. Pants are the worst because I can’t roll them without taking up all of the room in my suitcase. I fold them in half lengthwise and then place them inside the suitcase but with the legs coming outside. I rotate each pair so that all four sides have either the pant legs or the skirt out. Place the rolled items or even packing cubes inside the suitcase and then fold the pant legs over the top. I’ve even rolled the pant legs so that it covers the 4 sides (top) of the suitcase. It seems crazy but it does work really really well.

I have been watching videos from travel experts, flight attendants and even organizing experts and this by far was the most thorough and helpful. Clear and concise. Thank you. ( My favorite part...hide the fine China😅)

I am so happy I found packing cubes a couple of years ago! When we used to cruise..sigh.. I would pack my clothes in individual cubes per category (underwear, shirts, pants, electronics, personal items, etc). When our suitcase was delivered to our cabin, the cubes were easily put into drawers or closet shelves. Also, we hung formal clothes, as well as dresses, shirts, etc. on wire hangers, put a plastic bag over them, fold it over once and put it in the suitcase..hangers and all. When we get to the room, we take the hanging items out and hang them in the closet. Presto! Unpacking is done, and it’s time for that first cruising cocktail! Thanks for all your hints. I still learn things every day! Let’s get back to traveling and cruising!

I use a modified version of the roll method to pack my suitcase. I fold items vertically so they are all the same approximate width before I roll them. The rolls need to be less than the depth of the suitcase so that I can line them upright inside the suitcase. That way I can see every item. Shoes go in the mesh part of the suitcase. I put items like socks inside the shoes. I also put each shoe in a plastic bag. Before I travel I make a list, of course. I build my travel wardrobe around a single neutral, an accent colour, and a multi-coloured print, depending upon the season. Everything has to go with everything else and it has to work at least 3 ways. I like a top with a multi-coloured print, such as a floral with a dark background, for travelling on planes and busses because stains are less noticeable on a print. Toiletries including liquids go in the small zippered pocket on the outside of the suitcase so it's easy to remove for Security screening. And in my carryon bag I always take a ziplock bag with a t-shirt dress, a change of undies, travel toothpaste and toothbrush. Just in case.

I appreciate you also. These tips have changed my outlook on traveling. At 74 the less luggage we have to take the better. We now won’t even have to check a bag. You’re wonderful. Thanks for making my day. God bless you.

It's been almost a decade since I've traveled by air so I was trying to brush up on packing ease, etc. when I stumbled across your videos. You're such a joy to watch (I totally giggled at "covering fine china"). I have done rolling, and at home do MK sometimes (not for everything). I think I'll do a mix for my upcoming trip (kondo the shirts, army roll the capris/skirts). Thanks so much for this and for all the advice. As a woman who is just about 200+ days older than you, lol, I feel like I'm listening to a friend helping a girlfriend out. I've travelled a lot in my time, but it's always fun to learn more and get better! Thanks!

I’ve used packing cubes since 2013 even for an overnight trip. I love them. I have either rolled for folded. I think on my next trip I will use either army roll or Konmari because I fold the top of cube underneath and but in the drawer or on shelf. I will be able to see everything. This will work really well when cruising comes back. I love your comment of God is the only source of joy. That’s what came to my mind when I read Konmari’s book. I need need look at the clothes I where all the time and get rid of a lot of the other things.

I love your videos. I have learned so much and feel less stressed about what to expect when flying. I pre spray my clothes with wrinkle releaser and hang them to dry before packing. When I arrive at my destination I hang them and a quick mist and shake will remove any wrinkles that occurred from packing. Thanks Laurie for your videos, keep them coming! God bless you and your family!

I use a combination of cubes and rolling. I pack differently from you. Like to take at least one dressy pants and dressy tops for dinners out although it is great to be all casual sometimes. So enjoy your videos. Now I want to go to Miami Beach. Agree only God gives real joy, but seeing your sweet face makes me happy. ❤️

I'm 15 and I am currently packing a go bag. My Uncle who I'm very close with as terminal cancer and not long to live, so I was packing a bag that will be in the car incase something happens and I'm at school or home and we can just go. I have anxiety and before I watched this video I was freaking out about how much space I have to pack and about other stuff as well, but after watching your video I felt much calmer. You have a very calming presence to you, so I just wanted to thank you for that. Please, have a good day, week, whatever!

This recent trip to Las Vegas, I flat-packed. I laid out my button/pullover tops, 3 at a time, ontop of one another. Folded in the sleeves, then folded up the bottoms to make a half fold. Kind of like the famous bundle fold/packing method. I did a few bundles this way. I laid them inside of a large packing cube (approx 17.5" wide), which fits inside of a standard carry-on suitcase. I did the same for DH, tucking in the excess along each side of the cube. I filled the cube with more than needed tops . I half folded a lightweight jacket and a denim jacket on top of all. NO WRINKLES!! I could've packed for 2 or more weeks that way. For jeans/pants, I folded one leg over the other as you would to roll them, plopped the filled cube in the middle, then folded up each end over the cube. This made a package that I could lift in and out of the suitcase. Filled my other smaller packing cubes with the usual underwear/sleepwear/socks, and non-liquid essentials. The flat packing/folding is what I'm sticking with, but I'll admit, it's easy to overpack this way because less bulky folding leaves more room!!! Happy travels everyone. Be safe.

We just bought our first compression cubes, my husband loved his when he got ready for his trip a few days ago to another state driving. I tested mine out and I already ordered another set. I thrive off of organization and it calms me so I love these. Your pouches have also inspired me, I will have to try the marie kondo one or army roll, maybe. Thank you for your videos

'ONLY GOD CAN BRING YOU JOY...' Loved that quote!! I'm so not even ready to travel, my big trip from last year was cancelled, so Godwilling next year, getting in the 'mood' by watching these awesome videos, I've tried all the methods, well except for the Konmari method, prefer the cubes and rolling, I'm going to shop for compression cubes, not the big bags I was using they are great for storing clothing between seasons (I'm in NJ) not so much for travelling.
