I asked ChatGPT to come up with a bankai for Aizen for fun one day and it’s idea was actually pretty cool. To put it in short terms, it came up with the idea that his Bankai would make his illusions become reality, which on its own is just the Visionary, however the part that made it really interesting is that he would be able to make it impossible for opponents to fight him as a team because he can give them all different illusions, forcing them to fight different in completely different scenarios from each other, each being real to only the one seeing it.

He claims to have reached the peak of Shinigami, so a bankai isn't too far fetched.

He has a bankai, but he obviously deems his shikai more useful. Its like Shinji’s and Soifon’s where the Shikai’s function works better for their intending goals, and his bankai probably requires ridiculously specific circumstances to be used.

He definitely has a bankai considering he can use his shikai without calling for it verbally

I can think of 4 reasons why he doesn't use his bankai

1 : It undoes his shikai
2 : It only works on those affected by his shikai
3 : His Zanpakto like Mayuri's is artificial and he made it himself
4 : Just as how Ichigo and Kenpachi are always in shikai, Aizen is always in Bankai form and just needs his shikai which would explain why his sword doesn't change form

He HAS a bankai. In a bleach light novel (I don't remember which one) it is said that "Aizen's bankai only works on people who are under the influence of Kyoka suigetsu" which confirms that he has one, in addition to being, as far as I know, the only official information about her.

My headcanon is that aizen's bankai forces the release of anyone currently under the effects of kyoka suigetsu so he purposefully never releases his bankai as that's counterintuitive to his goals

IIRC, it was stated by Kubo that he actually used his Bankai against Ywach during the first invasion, which is why Ywach didn't realize their time was already up. It basically gives even greater control over the illusion, even affecting time and space, not just the senses.

İ dont remember if its from writer/editors words or from light novel its mentioned that aizen has a bankai but the problem is his bankai is weak compared to others using it doesnt gives him any good buff + his bankai basically removes the effects he had with shusui making him start from the first again probably using it would make him weaker than his shusui (like imagine he was using its ability for more than hundreds of years to make everybody effected by it and losing it would destroy all of his efforts)

He has the stage after bankai i dont know what its called but when your zampakuto merges with you it goes beyond a bankai

Aizen is not the type of person to not bring out his full potential just because he didn't feel like it. He definitely achieved Bankai in my opinion, he would be stupid not to. Aizen is a lot of things but he certainly isn't stupid

You saying aizen is gay is more acceptable than him not having bankai. Aizen has shown the ability to release his shikai without a command and all other prerequisite for bankai. Subjugating zanpukto spirit is needed to achieve bankai and subjugation is the essence of Sosuke aizen. He didn't use it because he didn't need it or rather it would be just too broken so kubo didn't show it.

My personal theory he does have a bankai but its more situational and not battle focused. Given his character it may be something that allows him to see others intentions or desires and possibly some level of mind reading. This ability could aid him as he is a manipulator while being understabdble why he does not use it in battle

I think Aizen indeed most likely has a Bankai….. someone of his intellect and his understanding of kido and all that a shinigami is about. I think that there was simply no need for Aizen to use his Bankai…. There was no one strong enough to force him to do so.

Tbh what i like about Aizen character didn't need complete hypnosis to get where he is😅. He just does it to fudge with ppl for fun😂😂

Aizen does have a bankai, the entire reason why he wants the hogyoku to become a trancendent being was because he had reached his limit as a soul reaper meaning he had achieved everything he can as a soul reaper which includes the four combat methods zanjutsu, hoho, hakuda and kido. Considering aizen even without the hogyoku was already a prodigy having reiatsu twice as much as a regular captain. Its actually harder to believe that he doesnt have a bankai. Not only that, in the novels it was confirmed that aizen has a bankai and it only works on those who is under kyoka suigetsu's hypnosis.

Kubo confirmed aizen does indeed have a bankai and it probably will be in the new hell arc

Since its said in a LN that his bankai can only affect people under the effects of Kyoka Suigetsu (meaning he does have a bankai), i had two ideas for what it would be

0. If that isnt already the case, Aizen could give different illusions to different people under the effects of KS. Itd be more like a secondary upgrade than the main power of the bankai

1. Mind control. Since the shikai affects the senses, the bankai could go deeper and directly affect the mind of his targets, forcing them to obey Aizen's every order without question. Additionally, the targets wouldnt know they are mind controlled, thinking they act on their free will. He could also use a Heavy Weather type move where he makes his targets think they are something theyr not (for example, he could make them think they are a snail, which wiuld lead them to act like one). Aizen could probably also wipe their memory afterwards

2. Nocebo effect manifestation. This ability would allow Aizen's illusions to have actual repercussions on his targets while they are still illusions. For example, if they are subject to an illusion where their arm gets cut off, this would actually materialise in real life, seemingly cutting their arm from nowhere

With the type of personality Aizen has, it’s amazing that he even has a close enough relationship with his sword for a Shikai. But even if he doesn’t have a Bankai, he doesn’t need it considering how busted his Shikai is.

I think Aizen’s bankai a perfect illusion that the victim is guaranteed to believe, but he doesn’t necessarily know what the illusion is. When fighting yhwach he says “so I look like Kurosaki Ichigo do i?” When he gets stabbed. This may imply he didn’t know what Yhwach saw.
