But what exactly will cause a computers do, I keep hearing abstract descriptions of the possibilities of quantum computing but I never heard anyone explain how these are going to improve everyday lives.

It's funny how the first computers were the size of a room, and then now they fit in my pocket, and with quantum computing, they are back to being the size of a room. I wonder if I will ever have a quantum machine that can fit in my pocket.
