Technically the original is tf2 dodgeball, a tf2 game mode where you airblast critical homing rockets at other players while reflecting them away when they get too close. This game mode is likely the inspiration for genji ball from overwatch, which also likely inspired deflect, which of course inspired blade ball.
NOTE: yes I know tf2 dodgeball was inspired by real life dodgeball (obviously), but I am referring to video games only

The original is from Team Fortress 2, it consist of 2 pyros and 1 soldier's rocket.

The 2 pyros can airblast it to the other one.

(They don't go for you though, you have to have a great aim to hit the ennemy pyro.)
