My LG Ultrafine 27UQ850-W 27" 4K Monitor Review.
ALL THE GEAR FOR THIS VIDEO IS LISTED BELOW 👇

This week I'm looking at the latest 4K Ultrafine display with IPS Black technology that's shocking similar to the Dell U2723QE, and why it's such a big deal allowing it to outperform the Mac Studio Display in some areas. I'll discuss what this technology is, the benefits it has over regular IPS and VA panels, and ultimately, why this monitor is great not only for a desktop setup with a Mac Mini or Mac Studio, but also for MacBook Airs or Pros as well.

Thank you for your review. I just bought an LG Ultrafine 27UQ85R. Overall, the primary differences between the model you reviewed and the model I bought lie model year (LG 27UQ850: 2022 and LG 27UQ85R: 2023), and the inclusion of a Self Calibration Sensor in the LG 27UQ85R. The other specifications and features are very similar, suggesting that both models would perform similarly in most use cases according to my source, who says LG 27UQ85R-W stands out for its higher brightness and similar color coverage as the Dell U2723QE. In contrast, the Dell U2723QE offers a broader range of refresh rates and more comprehensive connectivity options, including additional USB ports and an Ethernet RJ45 port. Making a choice between LG and Dell should depend on your specific needs, such as the importance of brightness, color accuracy, refresh rate, and the variety of connectivity options! I had a hard time making my choice - I went for LG. Time will show if that is a good choice. :)

I'm a big fan of LG monitors. I'm using a 29" Ultrawide as my work monitor and have never had any issues with it. I picked up an ASUS ProArt 27 (1440p) for my personal desktop a while ago and was very happy with it until I watched this video --- that LG Ultrafine is a very compelling monitor.

My brother congratulations for this great content, unlike other youtubers I've seen in your videos you speak with very valid technical arguments, excellent work, I have a MacBook Pro and all the accessories I've bought have been based on your recommendations. Keep it up.

I've used a LG 27UN850-W for video editing for about 2 years and I've been quite happy with it. I have needed to do a bit of black correction but I'd buy another LG for sure.

I just bought this monitor on a Black Friday deal. Really excited to get it as a second monitor (I already have LG 4k Ultrafine) next week!

A very good review. Your personal experience and testing is important. I'm looking to replace my old NEC PA271 for my future Mac Studio. I want the color calibration capability and accuracy.

8:21 - I think that's the upstream port for the USB hub, although I thought that the USB-C port was used as the upstream for that. Check it and let us know.

My guess is the USB B port is to connect non USBC computer with a USB A port to allow the usb hub ports to work at least that's what other monitors usually have.

While ips black has great contrast, I would take a mini led IPS panel with lots of zones over this any day.

Hi there Kyle. Top notch content. As always ... and really high end production as well. However, I do think there is a place for a Studio Display. Especially for its 5K res, true AiO solution, build quality, seamless integration with Macs and clean desk space ... just to name a few benefits of having an ASD. Different people different priorities. In the end I think it all comes down to a personal preference. In matters of taste, there can be no disputes.

Bought this display a couple months ago to go with my new M2 mini. Very happy with it.

I have a webcam and a USB-Dongle for another Input Device so already 2 USB-Ports are needed. Now if I add a USB-Mic or other stuff the LG already offers no ports anymore and I would have to go with another USB-Hub. Thats why I am considering the Dell because it offers more inputs (and the LG is not available in my country so far, but would be nice to know the price here because if its much cheaper than the DELL, I might rethink again

Thanks for the great video. Do you know if you can control the brightness of the monitor through the apple keyboard?

if im ideally looking in the 300 ish dollar range, would you say the upgrades on this model are worth the extra cash? or do you think ill be satisfied with a more affordable older model? for context - im a musician, i do *very* occasional photo and video editing, but not on a professional level. but most of what i do is work in logic for audio editing, sometimes with video playback if im composing music for visual media... thanks!

DellU3223QE vs. HP Z32k G3 vs. LG UltraFine 32UQ850V-W vs Dell U2724D comparison? I see in specs that Dell U2724D is the best for the eye care even comparing to the last 32 inch model but is it true? It also has the best calibration out of all, so no need to calibrate even. Any tests?

Nice video But this monitor doesn´t have ¨SRGB¨ or ¨RGB¨, do you think that it would go well for photography?
Best regards.

LG has the most complicated naming They're all the same with a letter difference, and no one seems to carry this exact model. Did they update this with a newer model number yet again?
