This actually has been my everyday monitor for a year now! I the picture on this thing, and the USB-C hub has made my ultimate "one cable setup" for my MacBook come true. 4K on 27 inches is fantastic too, and it's amazing for content creators by far. :')

Just got the 27UP850 a couple weeks back and I'm in love. It perfectly complements my 14" MBP and prior to this monitor, I had an eleven year old 21.5" Samsung. Use it primarily for law school and it has a wonderful reader view for the same, which works well with warmer true tone settings on my ipad pro. The size of the monitor means that I don't have to use my ipad as an external display and instead as a complementary device where I do my annotations. Connected to my audioengines and polk audio subwoofer, movie nights are a damn blast. The USB-C connectivity is truly convenient and I don't have to mount and pack my charger every morning for work.

I'm glad I went the 4k 60fps route instead of the 1440p 144hz Benq I was considering. Though the 120hz ProMotion refresh rate of the 14 MBP is not reflected in this monitor, the 4k resolution is said to be better for documents, productivity, and modern media viewing. I was not able to compare the two resolutions but this was a quick decision I had to make in the lack of resoruces in the Philippines.

I have a Dell S2721Q 4K. I picked it up from my local IT shop. When I got home I found Dell had it on sale for $AUD100 cheaper but I was happy to support my local IT bloke.
It has built-in speakers which are crappy so I bought some cheap Logitech speakers powered by USB but plugged into the monitor's headphone jack.
The Q describes the stand that comes with the monitor. It allows a bit of tilt only. The monitor has the mounting holes (similar to shown in the video) for the fancy stand that allows lift and rotate. I got one of these from a friend who uses a monitor arm instead. I can't get the fancy stand to fit in. Something is blocking the fit at the bottom on the holes. I've considered taking the back cover off the monitor to see if I can make some adjustments but not until it is out of warranty.

I've been using a version of this display for about 6.5 years now. It's been wonderful and flawless.

1:08 Correction: The new MBPs have 254ppi on their retina screens.

I have this monitor and think it's great. The only issue I have had is that if you run it at 4K resolution there is very little USB-C bandwidth available for the hub. A keyboard or mouse is fine, but I tried a USB 3 ethernet adapter and it just couldn't keep up (40Mbps on an 800Mbps connection).

I have the exact same model. I would strongly recommend it if you plan to use it with a MAC. But I have to say, I wouldn't recommend this for a windows user, or in fact any other 27inch 4k monitor since windows its still not working well with high dpi screens. (even virtual windows through parallels works better than native windows on a PC). If you have to go 4k windows - go for 32inches. In 2022 some windows apps (not just old ones) refuse to work properly under some dpi scaling settings. I don't remember if I was using 125 or 150% magnification, but only one of those 2 works well. I would say 27 -quad HD, 32 4K for windows from my testing.. No problem on a MAC.

@5:20 so you can connect your laptop to this monitor using USB-C and it will charge your laptop as well as output the video signal? This is amazing!

I’ve used this monitor for the past 10 months for video editing and as of late playing X-Plane 12 flight simulator using a 2023 MBP M2 pro. I really don’t have any complaints especially considering I paid well under $300 delivered. The PD isn’t going to fast charge a totally depleted laptop but definitely keeps you going indefinitely. They also make an identical model with higher PD output 96w 27UP850 for $369 as of 12/23

I have the LG 32UN880, quite a similar monitor but with the ergo stand, and 32 inch!! It is amazing, single usb-c cable, and great cable management. 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut, great display.

I have an LG27UL500, which is also a 27 inch one at 4K. Used to think it was amazing and just so crisp and clear, but then I got a 16" M1 Pro lol.

Is LG 27UP850 (a newer version of this) still a good pick for today? Another option is the Dell U2723QE, but ngl the price on LG is pretty tempting. Will mostly use it for web design and dev.

I bought the 27UP850 two months ago, return it and bought another one. Same issues with both:
1. IPS-glow is quite bad at lower corners (but MAYBE I can deal with it...)
2. I can't manage to output a 10-bit signal from my Mac mini M1: I tried connecting with USB-C, HDMI and USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 cable but with every connection Switchresx says that I'm displaying "millions of colors" (8 bit) and not billions (10bit). I know that they are not real 10bit colors, but even with FRC the difference should be visible. Do you manage to display billions of colors?
3. OnScreen Control is a nice feature: such a bad thing that it's still not fully compatible with Apple Silicon!!
4. It supports hardware calibration with many colorimeters, but the calibration with LG software is not reliable giving uneven gamma curve and not smooth gradients on my Mac M1. If you try with an Intel Mac it works better: WTF??
I'll probably buy an Asus PA279CV.

I bought 27inch ASUS ProArt PA278CV, I think it was good choice for my purse and my Mac Air M1... If you are coder who works on code editor for more than 8+ hours it would be good choice which I could also recommend! It's ergonomic and not overpriced budged monitor!

I considered 27UP850 as well but went with U2723QE. My thought process:

Why U2723QE is better?
- IPS Black panel with doubled contrast ratio.
- More and superior ports as USB hub. (I think 27UP850 only supports 4K60Hz with USB 2.0 speed?)
- Built-in power supply.
- Slightly more DCI-P3 coverage (98% vs 95% of LG)
- Better design (to my eyes - not a fan of LG's curved base).
- Displayport chaining and KVM (in case I need to use it with PC)

Why 27UP850 is better? (and why they don't matter as much to me)
- 96w power delivery over USB C (compared to 90w of Dell) - the difference is really small.
- AMD Free Sync - I don't game.
- Built in speaker - I heard quality is mediocre.
- Lower listed price ($550 vs $780) - U2723QE is now on sale for $625, and Amex is offering $120 credit (valid before Apr 2), I actually got U2723QE at around $500.

Why does the 34" 34WK500-p at 7:08 show 2160P ?? 34" monitors are 1440p, not 4k in fact that specific model is 1080p but wide (2560)

1 question.... If i connect my laptop via USB C so will it automatically start charging my laptop or do i have to manually (or in settings) start it and if it's automatically can i stop it manually because I don't want to overcharge my laptop?🤔
