I grew up in the 70s and 80s and I could not ever have imagined then, that I would ever watch a woman making demands such as this. At what point did the world go completely insane? I must have lived through it but I missed it happening...

I've sat beside a PLUS-size passenger from Singapore to Dubai. He was in the aisle seat and I was in the middle seat. It was the most uncomfortable journey I have ever traveled. He was aware of his size and spent some of the time leaning out to the aisle but with food and drinks being served he basically crushed me and I had to lean over into my wife's space. People like this should be forced to purchase two seats.

As a retired engineer who spent my whole life in the airline industry, I feel that the safety aspect needs to be brought up too. The seats as well as the floor structure is designed to withstand a certain load during a crash with progressive deformation of the structure of the seat and floor, or seats when they are a set. Simply sitting on two seats does not spread or divide the load evenly, with one end of a belt from one seat attached to the other causes an odd load distribution in addition to the fact the seatbelt still has only two attachment points, and if you weigh 350 lbs approx and you have a 12g deceleration on or in an accident you now just put an excess of 4, 200 lbs on the attachment - thats over two tons. its going to fail and you WILL kill people in the seats in front of you. This is well documented by the ntsb over the years. And yes this can be designed for heavier people but it will cost tens of millions to recertify and change floor structure.

I once worked in an office where a woman was as obese as this one. She was in this state because she ate too much. All manner of special arrangements had to be made for her regarding space and furniture and she required a walking frame just to get around. She was only 24 years old and was also always going on about fat discrimination. She was a complete liability.

I had exactly this issue recently. My baggage was a few pounds over the weight limit and I was charged extra. As I was paying, I looked at the land whales who weighed at least twice what I do and asked the clerk why airlines don't weigh passengers and their bags together and charge based on total weight (because it all contributes to what the aircraft is required to carry). She gave me a dirty look and blathered something about "discrimination".

As someone who is trying to lose weight and has been obese for most of his life, i don't support such kind of people at all.Please don't encourage obesity and obese people, please help them become fit, please it sucks to be fat.

I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall. I demand that everything be made to accommodate my size. I don't care if everyone else is a normal size. Because it's all about me. That's how much sense what this woman said is making.

I remember hearing about a group of monks in a church. They would have a narrow passage way to get in and out of the dining area. If you started getting too fat you would literally no be able to get in....and then not eat until you lost a few inches of girth. Quite revolutionary

As someone who was sealed against the window by a very obese woman who literally spilled over the armrest and physically pressed against me on a four hour flight, despite being very uncomfortable... I wondered how vulnerable I was in the event of an emergency evacuation. Nobody should be forced to experience this. The woman should be required to buy two seats... period.

I used to weigh 300 lbs and lost it so I am very vocal about obesity being unhealthy and lazy. But I always see these people and think how they can utilize so much energy to hate on social issues against their weight when they could just turn that energy around and lose the weight...but ya know, they don't want to do THAT.

I saw an episode of my 600 pound life where this lady had to travel from Michigan to Texas or something. She literally tried boarding the plane and they could barely fit her through the aisle. She had to turn around, cancel her ticket and just drive to Texas. It was so pathetic.
