The Hobbit - Misty Mountains (Piano Version)
Piano Version by Patrik Pietschmann

Many of you have asked for it, now you get it! "Misty Mountains" is probably the most famous track from "The Hobbit" soundtracks. The lyrics are written by J. R. R. Tolkien himself. The melody of this song is exceptionally NOT written by Howard Shore, but by the 4 composers David Donaldson, David Long, Steve Roche and Janet Roddick, a New Zealand composer team that writes music for New Zealand film projects under the name "Plan 9". Howard Shore also used this melody in his score. I hope you like my piano version!

Any suggestions for future arrangements? Please leave them in the comments.

If you don't think music is important just remember that dwarves convinced Bilbo Baggins to rob a dragon by singing..

I’ve seen each of the Hobbit’s probably around 30 times, and this has always been one of my favourite songs from the movies. Thank you Patrik, you did it again

I think everyone agrees the Hobbit movies are super nostalgic especially hearing this as they are about to start their journey to take back what was once theirs, so amazing!

I was six when I first read this song in the Hobbit. Now, so many years later, it still bring me back to how I felt on that first night, opening that book when I was supposed to be sleeping.

This is yet again incredible! You retained the haunting atmosphere of the track perfectly, while also incorporating your own personal style. The portion starting at 2:16 is particularly stunning. I have had a rough couple of days, and seeing you post a cover of one of my favorite songs has given me something to smile about. So thank you for this beautiful arrangement.

In music school it was hard for me to find the motivation to study songs, but your arrangements, their visuals and quality motivate me to learn even unfamiliar pieces. I think you can safely start teaching people from your videos. Its pleasure to watch them and learn!

When this flashed up on my yt this morning, I made a point of waiting until I was sat alone to really enjoy it. Thank you.

I especially appreciated the return to lower key at the end, it really brought home the deep nature of this song. The dwarves themselves being delvers into the hearts of mountains, their voices being low and strong. It was beautiful. It was like I was taken for a brief flight through the misty mountains by Gwaihir the Windlord. And then settled safely back down with the lords of Erebor.

Patrik, your arrangements will stay long after you pass away and people will study them the way we study all the great pieces from the past today and get their minds blown away. I hope you never stop making these.

Sounds much more like THE LORD OF THE RINGS THEME but neverthless every tune you prepare is a masterpiece in itself. And so is this one too is mesmerizing.
