It’s kinda funny that this is becoming a horror trend, because when I was younger I downloaded the FNAF games from some sketchy site, and they had a ransomeware virus that made a bunch of constant pop ups telling me to call a number to get the virus fixed.

Fun fact: the Mario 64 anti piracy he showed is actually fake, in fact there is no anti piracy in Mario 64

The use of AI images was genius tbh. No human can purposely make that weirdly right but eerily wrong version of freddy. Also, a ransomware hacker wouldnt make real art for a randomware game, so its realistic lol

Let's be for real, someone out there is gonna make an actual fnaf ransomware that will actually wreck your device.

I have only seen one actually scary Fnaf vhs tape/ analog horror thing and it was so deeply disturbing. It’s either “lol”, “spooky ig”, or “I’m about to cry”

This Ransomware is definitely seeming to be the new version of that Anti-piracy meme, except I get a bit more of an eerie vibe from this Ransomware, like those sketchy sites, and... Bootlegs, and all that Unsettling forgeign malware type stuff...

The FNaF ransomware trend is so interesting to me in that its another form of horror art being created based purely in nostalgia. We all remember growing up and seeing those "FREE Five Nights At Freddy's" ads on the sides of youtube videos. Any of us that had the virus talk drilled into our heads by our parents likely came up with absolute worst case scenarios of what would happen if you took the bait.

Its in a similar vein of anti-piracy screens, playing on a strange hyperspecific fear that I myself still cannot explain even now as an adult.

I love the recent trends of online horror being based in experiences somewhat unique to the early 2000s generation, those of us who grew up with the burgeoning internet before it became three big sites and vectors to show us ads.

Idec how cheesy or corny a lot of these are, they make me feel like a kid again :]
