How to fix endless black loading screen (GTA 5 ONLINE PC)

I show you how to fix the black loading screen that you sometimes get stuck on in GTA 5 Online. This fix works for the PC version of GTA Online

To open Resource Monitor on Windows 10 go to the search bar on the bottom left of your desktop and type in "Resource Monitor" and it will appear, or open Task Manager, go to the performance tab and it will be on the bottom

Thanks for watching! If you are still having trouble, I have some common questions/problems answered in this comment!

First, please note this fix only works AFTER you have loaded into a GTA Online session/lobby. If you are stuck on the initial loading into GTA Online, check your NAT type, make sure Rockstar's ports are open on your firewall, and verify file integrity of the game. (also the servers do occasionally go down, check the server status to make sure they are up)

If you are having trouble finding the Resource Monitor: You can launch it from the bottom of the Task Manager window on the Performance tab, or use the Windows search box and type in "Resource Monitor"

If you are still stuck on the loading screen and nothing happened after suspending your game, you need to suspend it for longer. Every PC is unique and will have a sweet spot for it. If you do not suspend the game for long enough, nothing will happen and it will resume the infinite loading. If you suspend it for too long, you will lose connection to the lobby/session you were in, but the loading will complete. What I recommend is suspending it for 1 second at first then 2 and so on, each time checking to see if the loading circle changed to initializing, and when it does remember that time for future reference.

If you are wondering if this still works, it does and I use it almost daily because of how often this game bugs out. If it ever stops working, I will come back and update this video's title, description, and pinned comment.

If you are using a private GTA session (such as Guardian), this will still fix the loading BUT will crash your private session so if you are worried about cheaters getting into your lobby make sure to restart it after using this fix. (also if you are modding/hacking/cheating this fix could work but potentially might not, but if you run into this frequently try playing without the engine to see if that is the source of the issue)

It is also worth noting that if your game is freezing on its own (like low fps before getting stuck in the infinite loading, or the loading circle is stuttering) doing this fix still fixes the loading on the network side of the game, but your PC may still take a while to process the area/cutscene you are loading into.

Another common question I see is do you have a fix for Xbox/Playstation, the answer is a bit complicated and I don't have a video for it but on Xbox you can test NAT type and sometimes it works and then on Playstation OR Xbox (if the NAT type doesn't work) disconnecting your router from the modem for a few seconds (be careful not to do it for too long though or you could completely lose connection) can work but is not as reliable as the PC fix
