I used to eat pi, it increased my circumference

I'll never forget the day that i realized if you have 1 pie. its actually 2 pi.

Theoretically if you could convert the entirety of pi into binary and then have a computer display it as an image, it would contain every image that ever existed, every image that will ever exist, and every image that otherwise would never exist.

Addition: Pi is not just irrational, it's transcendental.
While transcendental numbers technically ARE irrational, they have another special property.
Rational numbers are any number that can be expressed by a fraction, so 2, 45, 3/2, etc.
Irrational numbers, however, cannot be expressed as a fraction, notable example is the square root of 2.
But Pi is weirder than that, not only can Pi not be expressed as a fraction, it can't be expressed as ANY arithmetic expression, so like sqrt(2), which is calculated by taking the root of 2, or the number 6 which can be found by doing 2×3, Pi can't be calculated using any arithmetic expression; you can get close using really really deeply nested fractions, but you can never quite get there.
And that's what makes Pi a transcendental number.

Pie day was coolest in 1596. It will never be cooler than that until the year 15965.

Pi shouldn't be celebrated once a year, it should be.... all year ROUND

A shame that on March 14, 1592 there probably weren't many people who knew just how significant that day was.

Over here it's 14/3/15 today. Does that mean I can't celebrate pi day?

Pi is love, pi is life. Don't let those Tau-sympathizers tell you otherwise.

I learned about Pi in school in 1959. I finally got to use that knowledge for in first time in 2001. What's amazing is that I still remembered it after 42 years.

Tau is definitely much better in this regard since it's an expression of the radius which is the actual value we use for measuring. Notice how every time we use pi it's with a multiple of two next to it.

I love the new intro so much! Thank you for changing it, the old one did not do these videos justice. (This might not be the first video with it, but it's the first one I've seen.)

SciShow I'd like to add an interesting idea about pi.
We know that pi has an infinite number of decimals and that there is no pattern which is repeated. Combine those two facts and you can conclude that you can find ANY series of numbers by looking somewhere in pi. Since it's possible to interpret a series of numbers as letters (done all the time in computing, look at an ASCII table) then that means you can also find any combination of letters somewhere in pi.
What this means is that pi contains pretty much any information that exists. There is a segment of numbers in pi that, if translated into letters, would spell out your entire life story (thoughts and emotions included). I find that very cool to think about, and rather hard to wrap my mind around too
