In 2013 country singer Randy Travis suffered a massive stroke, which paralyzed his right side and damaged an area of his brain that controls speech and language. He has not quite recovered the ability to sing, but working with singer James DuPre and a computer program that creates an AI-generated version of his voice, Travis and his longtime producer Kyle Lehning have created a new song, "Where That Came From," that captures Randy's country heart. Lee Cowan reports.

I am a 49yr old African American man, from the Bronx, NY. Randy Travis has been one of my favorite singers in general no matter the genre. This is a blessings to see and I pray AI is used more positively as this was. Salute to Randy Travis, I pray for continued blessings.

His wife …wow. She stood by him. And he is an inspiration. That voice is gold.

As someone who grew up on Randy Travis, it’s great to see him smiling as he hears this track. I’m glad that he is around to approve of this but I’m worried that those who see only money will use this as a precedent to exploit the talents of those who are no longer around to consent.

My husband passed away last July. He was a huge Randy Travis fan. He would be so happy about this new technology. So thru these tears, all I can say is 'thank you' for making more of Randy's music available. There is no one like him. He is the best!

Randy didn't just sing...he told beautiful stories through his music. This is what real country music is all about. I don't really care for AI, but Randy gave his blessing for this so I fully support it in this case.

He’s the reason a lot of us got into country music. Especially the “REAL” country music. Crying big tears of joy and happiness. Love ya buddy 😭😭😭

my wife had the exact same stroke (hommorhagic stroke) on the same side of her brain in 2022. aphasia is a thing that has no cure, but amazing enough, music is still in tact for her. the first thing she said when she was able to speak ANYTHING was singing 'jesus loves me' thats miracles. music is a beautiful healing potion

I'm from the Caribbean and I've listened to CM all my life and I'm telling you, that voice gets me every time. That's what you call country and there ain't no more where that came from ( pon intended ). George Jones would be so proud. And yes for those naysayers, if you have nothing good to say, buzz off. Randy approved, and that's good enough for me. Just watch the smile on his face, he's happy and that's a good thing. You don't want to hear, don't listen, don't comment. Just keep going

He came to my church and sang once and he had the biggest voice and probably didn’t even need a mic.

Randy Travis...I love you dearly! My late husband and I had and enjoyed all your music from the very beginning. I am so glad the Lord has blessed us all, by still having you here on this earth. My husband passed in 2005 and I still miss him dearly. He would be crying with me now, just by hearing your beautiful songs. You are an amazing child of God. Mary, thank you for taking such wonderful care of him.

Randy has always been my favorite. We grew up 2 hours apart. He stayed true to the country roots of the genre of old school country. He is blessed to still be with us.

I'm from the Middle East, 1st time I ever heard a country song was in the early 90s, and it was by Randy Travis. Since then, I'm addicted to country music.

Randy, thank you so much.
