This song is so special to me because my son was in a bus crash on 6/24/02. He was on his way to church camp in Louisiana. They hadn’t made it but an hour outside of Garland Texas when the driver hit a bridge pillar head on. The bus was torn apart and every kid on that bus was thrown. My son was in the back right seat and flew out of the front of that bus. 4 people died that day with multiple other comas, flat liners that were miraculously revived, broke backs and pelvises, chemical burns over their entire bodies, and one who will forever be institutionalized. There are 4 wooden crosses on the right side of the highway in Wills Point, Texas. When this song came out it meant so much to my son and all those survivors. Those kids needed to have hope as they were going through the worst survivor’s guilt and Randy helped them to understand they survived for a reason. Pick any Randy Travis song and somebody’s story is in there. Now go listen to Vince Gill’s ‘What you give away’.
