Quick guide to using your own character models with the new Unity Third Person Starter Asset.

The bones required for a humanoid rig:

* Hips - spine - chest - shoulders - arm - forearm - hand
* Hips - spine - chest - neck - head
* Hips - upper leg - leg - foot

This is exactly what I was looking for. The MakeHuman model I'm using has oddly clenched fists when he starts walking around with the Starter Assets. I believe I'll have to look for tutorials on animation layers. Anyway, thanks again for carefully covering this topic.

I have a mixamo character, with the animator setup, I just need the code for running it, so I'm planning to use this starter pack, does the rig still matter? If I have my own animation?

Thanks, that was pretty easy, but I have a question, can we delete the empty game objects inside "Skeleton" ? (just below "Geometry") because I think it's no longer required since this game objects were refering to the skeleton of the default model !

Would have been nice to see the actual process of rigging, especially the hips to Upper leg without the extrusion from hips to the UpperLeg? When I try manually parenting It jumps up to the top of the hip bone, don't know how you got the hips to upper leg parent, any help would be appreciated. I keep getting red in my unity editor when importing, tried adjusting it but somewhere between the original armature hips and upperLegs it goes wrong? It will be something I'm doing wrong in Blender before the export. Hopefully I fix it soon, thanks for the video though.
