Some guys will deliberately insult a woman under the guise of 'banter' so attemting to flirt that way will go down very badly with me under any circumstance and I won't care about the excuse or reason. The problem is from that point attempts that are arbitrary to deny being insulting will also be blatantly insulting by trying to mess with me that way too. The guy will be digging a deeper hole with that. The only way to recover from that would be to totally fess up and admit that he was actually trying to flirt in a dumb and counter-productive way.
