Samsung Galaxy S5 Review

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is here. It's Samsung's fifth-generation flagship device and is packed to the gills with the latest technology, including a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, a new Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It's also got a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

The display on the Galaxy S5 is slightly larger than the one found on the Galaxy S 4, measuring 5.1 inches in size. Around back, the S5 has a new coating that's similar to the Moto X. The new Galaxy flagship runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat with a new toned-down version of Samsung's custom user interface. It includes features from the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 like MyMagazine, a Flipboard-powered data stream that's found just left of the home screen.

The Galaxy S5 also has a fingerprint scanner built into its physical home button and a heart rate monitor that's found directly below its rear camera camera.

Good review Marco. It's sad that Samsung fanboys have become the new Apple fanboy. The phone is an incremental update compared to the S4. I do think Samsung went backwards with the design as the S4 has a more modern slick look. Plus I don't understand why they would put a heart rate sensor in the S5 when the Gear 2 and Gear Fit has that feature. Samsung is packing too much features in the galaxy series wether they work perfectly fine or not which is a let down.

How much memory do you get for use on the 16GB version? <9GB?

Just got my S5 about two hours ago. So far it's great. Have had no problems with the finger print scanner (so far). Reads every time. Love the back cover. And the screen is quite the jump from the S3 I upgraded from. The keypad is also very user friendly. Happy man here :)

Went from iPhone 5 and 5s to the HTC One. I held my friend's S5 and i felt like I was going to break it. I do like the screen to phone ratio on the S5 though.

What annoys me about all the reviews about the S models is the rewers always say "I want something without touchwiz and a metal body". The market says otherwise. Samsung is making hand of fist on their plastic, plus it's cheaper and I'm sure they make more money to put in other functions on the phone. And no touchwiz?? that'll never happen unless they have a google play version because manufacturers NEED a way to stand out. Improving touchwiz is all they can do but they will never remove it completely.
