Could Aston Martin have the legal grounds to threaten the FIA over Formula 1's 2021 Tech Regulations? Aston Martin said that they are lobbying the FIA to let them tweak the 2021 aero rules regarding floors and low rake cars, but have also said legal action could be a route taken if needed. Jake Boxall-Legge looks into the tech behind the situation, whether Aston Martin could start a legal case, and whether or not the situation is just "part of Formula 1".

Because they copied Mercedes' homework, but didn't understand what they're doing, so they failed the test.

Sour grapes from Aston Martin. They were more than happy to produce a 'clone' of the 2019 Merc and abandon the high rake philosophy, so now they have to live with the consequences that they were happy to go along with. Suck it up AM.

They had to make changes to a concept they copied and don't understand. This is why other teams develop their own cars, so when they need to make changes they know where they need to compensate. That can only be done with data and not a photoshop gallery! Everyone voted for the rules so they simply need to do a better job.

I want to see Aston Martin succeed as much as the next guy, but what exactly are they trying to accomplish here?

This is what happens when you copy the project from someone and then fuck up when it comes to the presentation 🤣🤣🤣

Err no - Aston is challenging the previously agreed upon rules, because they're not doing as well as they thought they would. Suck it up, princess.

At the start of the season, i wish that AM will be as competitive just like last year. I want to see Vettel going on top of the podium again but it might not happen soon enough. AM really screw this up and they blame the regulation which they have approved by them and agreed with other teams.

...because billionaire Stroll knows more about litigation than he knows about F1.

Mercedes is getting decent information about what their car wouldve been like on race weekend if they hadn't adapted to these rules.

As much as i'd love to see their face if the fia did revert the rules and it turned out they were actually struggling to adapt to the 2021 tires and the floor had nothing to do with it, I'd rather they stfu and get to work.

Otmar Szafnauer is the kind of guy that takes credit anytime something goes good, and points fingers anytime it doesn't.

They were trying to hurt the Mercedes because everyone is sick of them winning for the past 7 years, it's not their fault you copied the Mercedes

The only people complaining that the racing is even closer than it has been for many many years. If they did their jobs well they wouldn't have the problem. They need to look at themselves rather than blaming others for their issues

TBH I was expecting a green Redbull since they were partners and all but I totally forgot that they had to use the previous year's car.
