Jealousy is an instinct, it's not a learned behavior..That's why we see it in most highly evolved mammals especially dogs. No one taught a dog to be jealous when you show another dog attention yet we all have noticed this. So at best, jealousy can only be controlled and hope it doesn't lead to anything tragic or embarrassing.

I would think if you are in love with someone that it would hurt you for them to be with another person. If my partner didn’t feel jealous of the thought of me with someone else I would question how in love he is with me. Don’t you think? ...Maybe you mean more of an obsessive jealousy or worry when there is nothing actually happening and a fear of something that might happen but didn’t?
