VMWare Fusion - Run Linux (Ubuntu) on Apple Silicon (m1 and m2)

Important Note -> Don't Lose Your Data: If you install like this, after you restart the VM, you will lose all of your data, because the OS is installed in the temporary environment.

Step-by-step Solution:

1 - After seeing the desktop, run the "Install Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS" application, which is located on top of your Home folder.
2 - Follow the setup process as usual and customize the OS as you wish, including language preferences, etc. I suggest continuing with the automatic driver installation option.
3 - After the setup process is completed, the OS will restart itself, showing a black screen with an error message, and it will ask to press a button to continue. Don't do anything here.
4 - From the VMware Fusion top menu, go to "Virtual Machine" -> "Shut Down".
5 - From the VMware Fusion top menu, navigate to "Virtual Machine" -> "Settings" -> "CD/DVD (SATA)" -> Uncheck "Connect CD/DVD Drive". (Think of it as the same logic used when installing Windows through USB, as if you are changing BIOS settings back to the hard drive).
6 - Start the VM and install OpenGL by following the video instructions. Now, the OS is installed on permanent storage.

Bonus Performance Tip

7 - After install OpenGL, go to VMware Fusion top menu, go to "Virtual Machine" -> "Settings" -> "Display" -> Enable Accelerate 3D Graphics & Use full resolution for Retina display. Now it's smooth as butter.

On Apple Silicon M2, VMWare 13.5, can you install any of the included versions of Linux like Debian 12 arm 64 or Debian 11 arm 64? When I create these VMs they don't run, "Attempting to start from ...No Media it fails and presents four EFI boot options - what are you supposed to do?

I would like to ask 3:25, since my class is specified a ubuntu amd based image for us. Is there any way that I can install ubuntu amd based image on Mac m1? Or I can only use ubuntu arm iso file instead?
