Sources tell Dan Abrams that the total killed by Helene will grow “by hundreds” in coming days, maybe even rivaling 2005’s Hurricane Katrina, which killed upwards of 1,300 people. Brandon Daugherty, the CEO and co-founder of Operator Solutions, which assisted in North Carolina cleanup following Hurricane Helene, joins to discuss what he’s seen on the ground.

My husband works for a construction equipment company in Eastern NC. Contractors that are helping with the rescue effort have told him that the stench of death is everywhere in the area and bodies are being found in the trees.

The truth will come out is much worse than Katrina

We're in the epicenter of this cataclysm and i think the ultimate death toll is going to be a shocker. That coordinated effort Cooper's talking about was almost exclusively locals until very recently. By the time they got military help here, it was very likely too little, too late.

The bodies are buried in rock hard mud! So all they can do is mark the spot where they smell death!
It could be an animal.. Could be human... They can't dig them out by hand..

If they say that they are running out of body bags, when so far the is 200+, something is not adding up.

Why was the reported deaths cut by 50% in Asheville? One county is reporting zero deaths....except one of their deputies showed up at a morgue with 3 bodies in a pick up truck bed. Just report the accurate death rate Government. Why were over 90% of the flights private aircraft?

Maybe the media should go and report on it

Why is govt saying don't talk, wouldn't they want the truth out if it was in their favor?

They have been sharing everything went through the day of the storm. They are telling who have been up there helping them. It's their community and the good hearted American volunteers that have came to lend a helping hand. They seen really quick the government wasn't going to help. The help that the government was going to send Fema...lol They told the people they weren't going to any roads that they couldn't reach. That the people would have to come to them. Its a mountain, most of the roads and driveways are gone. They were either washed away or trees are blocking the road, plus theres alot of mudslides blocking some roads. The $750 they said people would be getting. Well, it depends on your income. I haven't heard one person say they have been eligible for it. This administration sucks. They don't give a sh*t about the American people and this proves it.

It's a terrible situation. I have no faith in our government, but I do have faith in our fellow neighbors. Look at what the citizens achieved. YES, it's sad that our government puts us last, but we have known that for years. You just have to go through a tragedy to find that out for yourself. Once you do, your eyes are open. Awww, but they sure love collecting taxes. They can find you no matter where you are. lol

That is what survivors have stated that thousands of bodies, on YT and TT by citizens and volunteers, videos showing the desperation and government workers threatening arrests and confiscating supplies from volunteer citizens.

There should be more help in NC!!! Those poor people living through this need as much help as possible. My heart breaks for the people of North Carolina 🇺🇸. Praying for each and everyone for strength, comfort, wisdom and love during this catastrophic time. Where is the US 🇺🇸 government when the American people need serious emergency help. 😢🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 sending prayers to all from South Africa 🇿🇦 ❤️

The terrain of western N. Carolina is some rugged terrain, from what I recall just visiting there a few different times many years ago.
With all the earth that has moved from that much water, I can see how hard it is to get into many of those places. The topography has certainly changed just enough, along with the infrastructure that has been destroyed. There is no doubt in my mind the body count will be going up.

As someone who lives in the area and have been to NC the it is true about the smell in Tennessee as well Why are they not telling about the actual death numbers.

Alot of the missing will never be found. They are buried under dry mud .The areas are so vast that cadaver dogs are practically useless.😢 There are alot of hollers in those hills and the people were very private and clanish. As a NC resident, please pray for these families and don't forget them in the months and years to come.😢

The fact that Dan acted so interested, and then started seeming distracted and bored while critical info was being shared----that kinda bothered me.

This really comes as no surprise. The devastation was so severe and wide spread, this is an absolute crisis. There’s another crisis brewing west of Florida. It could be worse than Katrina. The red lights are flashing with climate change.
