Large alligator saunters through Florida neighborhood

Sheriff’s deputies captured video of a large alligator crawling through a front yard in Florida before making its way into a community lake.

Here's why you never walk your pets, or let your kids near ponds, cricks, bodies of water in general in Florida.

He definitely looks like he’s never missed a meal. Maybe people should watch out for their kids leaving early for school. Not to mention their pets.

It gives me chills thinking that 35yrs ago we used to swim, splash around in Boggy Creek behind our house, even had a tire hanging from a tree we used to jump off from, we immediately stopped after seing a huge 13 foot Gator just casually hanging out on our boat dock, now I freak out every time my doggy gets close to any puddle of water in Florida no matter how small, you always have to assume there's at least one Gator in there.

The alligator was most likely coming back from a night out and was running a little late. Or it may have been visiting friends in a different lake and lost track of time.

In addition to all the obvious cautions, it's also important to remember that while gators look slow and clumsy, they can ~really~ shake ass when they want to, so keep your distance!

I lived in Florida for ~20 years & this sort of thing was not uncommon. I taught at UF & we had this little alligator on campus that stayed in a small stream under a bridge we walked over every day.

I love alligators and crocs, but if I come out to go do chores and that big guy is lumbering around I’d run back in and cancel any plans for the day😂
