The clips in this video are from the Ginger Rogers films released before the Production Code was enforced, which was July 1934. Only one of the films she made with Fred Astaire is pre-Code, and that is “Flying Down to Rio” (1933), from which I’ve included several clips.

The Rogers films the clips come from are:

A Night in a Dormitory (1930)
The Tip Off (1931)
Flying Down to Rio (1933)
Hollywood on Parade No. A-1 (1932)
The Thirteenth Guest (1932)
Gold Diggers of 1933 (1933)
20 Million Sweethearts (1934)
Sitting Pretty (1933)
Young Man of Manhattan (1930)
Professional Sweetheart (1933)
A Shriek in the Night (1933)
Queen High (1930)
Carnival Boat (1932)
Upperworld (1934)
Change of Heart (1934)
Honor Among Lovers (1931)
Rafter Romance (1933)
You Said a Mouthful (1932)
42nd Street (1933)
The Tenderfoot (1932)
Suicide Fleet (1931)
Finishing School (1934)

Damn, Ginger Rogers is on the all-underrated team. People should mention her name more. She was a force of nature.

She could do drama, comedy, musicals, pretty much everything. And could dance a little too

Love Ginger Rogers! What a gal! Great singer, dancer, actress—a triple threat.

This woman was infinitely more beautiful than any actress today. Ginger was a real actress in the top rank of attractiveness and talent.

Ginger was ALWAYS a box office success for the studios. This is why she was never labeled box office poison.
I had the honor to meet Ginger in 1992, and I learned she preferred signing 16'20" photos of herself instead of the typical 8'10" photos most celebrities autograph. She was truly a BIG STAR.

Considering that just 20 years before this era, women 's dresses went all the way down to the ankles, women in the '30s were absolute sex revolutionaries.

I was defiantly born about 40 years to late. I love these old movies.

Ginger Rogers Is the most beautiful woman that's ever walked this earth.

Arguably, Ginger was one of the most underpaid actors of the 1930's. Her standard studio 7-year contract at RKO paid her a mere fraction of her less attractive but more bankable co-star Fred (I forget his last name). The added bonus for posterity is that she had to be on-set and on-demand. Thanks to that, we have a lot more celluloid of her during her best acting, singing and dancing years.

Remember....Ginger did everything Fred did, but backwards and in high heels. She was loaded with talent!

What was it about upper thighs that made them all go off their heads? My goodness! Just roll a stocking up to almost there, minus a few inches and oh, Lordy!

I knew Ginger mainly as a dancing partner to Fred Astaire, so this is a pleasant revelation to me, thanks

Damn, she had some good one liners. Definitely going to have to watch a least a few of these. Been doing research on my great grandfather who was a puppeteer in the 30s and so I have been inspired and started listening to 30s music. I am SOOO obsessed with "the humble side of the town" by Don Bestor. I feel like the 1930s and 40s have always been neglected on my part but I love how sassy some of the characters were. They had a sharp tongue when they wanted to use it, that's for sure. And they could dance!!

There are suggestive, provocative, and sexy movies of yesteryear, then there´s the vulgar trash of today.

- So after all these years, I finally see who Tina Louise was supposed to be portraying on Gilligan's Island. Ah, - the real thing was WAAAY more attractive, and far more natural as a part of that. She was bloody gorgeous !

Love Ginger! Great video clips. Professional Sweetheart is my favorite of her pre code films! Nice to see clips from it here, and some real rarities. Your vids are great fun. Ginger, Thelma Todd, and Joan Blondell are my 3 favorites.
