This movie made me think Field Marshal Model was the stereotypical incompetent Nazi general. It wasn’t until years later that I learned he was actually one of the most capable of Hitler’s generals, time and again saving the army from disaster, until the end, when he died cursing Hitler for his mismanagement.

I didn't realize German actor Hartmut Becker was in this movie. The one who portrayed the creepy SS Officer Wagner in "Escape from Sobibor"

I always found it odd, that Runsted, even though he was Fieldmarshal, had normal officer collars not General collars in this film.
