Part 3 - Window Adjustments / Water leak test

In this video we complete the t-top weather strip replacement. Attempt to adjust the windows and give it quick leak test! I learned that you should NOT attempt this until all door mechanics are good. That means replace the window slide bushings and make sure the door pins and strikers are in good working order!

I had this fun too about 5 years ago with my T-Tops, wish I had this video. There is no way to get the window to quit leaking without spending the extra $30 on each side to change the hinge pins and readjusting the door gaps, window guides and window regular arm rollers. Once that is done they set up fine and will not leak much (wind). As I remember my friend had a new one back in the day he was taking his car in a few times for it leaking. Now mine, 5 years later after the seals are all dried out and need it again. Thanks for the tutorial.

Hey Mike... Put some boom mat and/or some insulation paper or even a garbage bag between the door panel and door before you put the door panel back on, it helps cut down on the sound.. Also a cheap but very effective way to prevent rust from forming inside the bottom of the doors is to just take some mineral or baby oil in an bottle and with the door panel off pour some down into the inside of the door with the glass up- let it go into all of the bottom of the door and the seams. it will prevent the door from rusting out. You can also use PB Blaster or a Penetrating oil. Also put some white lithium grease on the window regulator gear and sliders, i will make a huge difference. Great job on doing this yourself as adusting the windows on these cars is a PITA.. I have to find a place that sells some of that foam rope for my 86 T Top

oh wow... worn bushings are just a bad deal... I am fortunate mine are not like that. I was able to stuff weather stripping behind my seals to compensate most of the gaps...thank GOD...lol but now I am gonna bring it to a professional window adjuster...or I'll smash it. no patience...
BTW...your leak test is nothing like Florida storms down here lol... ya need to try it with a pressure washer hahaa

Hi, are the bushings available for the inside door mechanisms and if they are who would sell new ones?

Use a Grip Window Mount with Suction Cup and Market with some water based paint to reline it

Did you research on how much it would cost to fix the pins and play in the window? It just goes to show how much play is in the window! Looks great besides that!
