My Favorite Camera of All Time

For a camera to be my all-round, all-time favorite, it needs to meet a lot of criteria: excellent ergonomics, easy to use, features relevant to my needs, simple menus, good image quality, solid value, diverse lens selection and most importantly, it has to be a fun. This is that camera for me. Let's talk about my other favorite cameras while we're at it as well.

I FORGOT TO INCLUDE THE RICOH GRIII! I did NOT sell it. Also, join me in the armpit mic challenge! Always styling, guys :P

Whenever I feel guilty about owning 7 cameras, I just watch your channel, Ali. Don’t ever change.

A fellow camera hoarder!!! I love this. Everyone's so obsessed with having THE camera these days, when I LOVE different cameras for different scenarios, I'm so glad to see someone else working this way.

Really enjoyed that, great photos and collection, albeit a little surprise at the end! That said, the G9 really is a very solid camera - I loved it when I reviewed it, apart from its slightly sensitive shutter release, although maybe it just wants to shoot! Also one of the first cameras in its class to shoot 4k 60, something that's still not on everything. Panasonic has some great heritage cameras, I really wish they'd make a new GM. I saw one last week as part of a Lumix timeline, representing 2013!! It's over a decade old and is still so amazing!

I film on a g85! I love m4/3. So underrated. Keep it a secret. Nobody tell anybody :P (intro was insanely cool btw)

I am so happy that there are camera freaks like you out there, ... and that you make such fun videos. You are a gem.

I discovered the Lumix line about a year ago. I dismissed them until I used one. I am in love. My choice was the GX85 & Pano/Leica 15mm lens. Beautiful.

Wow, didnt expect the G9, completely amazed me.🤯 I I've been telling everyone about this camera for years. My hands know it inside out. If you wake me up in the middle of the night, I can take a photo before I even open my eyes. The ergonomics are perfect, it has 4K 60p, super-fast autofocus, awesome video quality, responsive touch screen, much praised menu system, a great screen, an unbelievable electronic viewfinder, tactile buttons, it's durable, has incredible in-body image stabilization, and so much more... Plus, there's a perfect selection of lenses. If you're considering this camera - yes, go for it!

And if you need something smaller, the GF9 (GX800) offers the same image quality in a 269g body (just half a pound).

A friend of mine used the G9 and absolutely loved it. I think it's a total sleeper hit of a camera, and the G9 II is even more impressive. Panasonic doesn't get nearly enough credit for the work they're doing in the mirrorless space.

The Voigtlander MFT Noktons are my absolute favorite lenses on any system. Consistently and aesthetically soft wide open with the entire series and sharpens up when stopped down, they like the swiss army knife. Of them all, I loved the 17.5mm and 60mm.

I was recently shooting an art show when another photographer there had the G9. He let me try it out, and yes, I loved the metal body. Gorgeous. Compact. Amazing.

The voigtlander 17.5 0.95 was my absolute FAVORITE when I had it paired with an Olympus EM5 Mii - It created beautiful pictures. I used the focus highlighting feature and could still give it to anyone and grab a banging photo.

Wonderful camera collection.
My own includes the Panasonic GX-8 and Olympus E-M5 iii, that I almost only use for concert photography with lenses like the Olympus 45mm f1.8, 12mm f2, Sigma 30mm f1.4 and Panasonic 40mm f1.7 and 50mm f1.7.
I also have a Leica Digilux 3 - my only four/thirds camera - and I love it.
My most recent addition is a Sony NEX-5N. I can't get over how small that camera is compared to the sensor size, and I love the lenses, I have for it (I'm even considering getting a C-mount to Sony E adapter and pick up a few ultra wide angle lenses as well). In fact I like it so much, I'm tempted to get an A5100 - because I found one for sale at a store I trust for half price compared to what they go for at MPB.
Not to mention the rest of my collection of cameras - digital as well as a substantial film camera collection (+ a lot of film in the freezer).

The Fuji S5 pro, I have 3 copies and they all give me different exposures. And it's not just dial in different exposures and they would look the same. Very strange cameras but I love them all. So unique.

I’ve bought and sold the D700 twice. It was such a game changer when it came out (much like the Z8 is now for Nikon mirrorless) and the files are just incredible to work with.

Hahah, your daughter flipping her hair all around in the car when you were showing the Panasonic Lumix G9 filming was an exact dopplegamger of my oldest son when he was a bundle of energy. He would go nuts like that when he was struggling to stay awake.

I'm realyl happy to see the lineup of your fun cameras. I need to go shopping again for some unique cameras. Once I got my Pentax K-3 III I kind of stopped looking because it is my new forever camera (until my next forever camara :) ).
