Did you film the low light in SLog3? Also, did you notice the ‘dual ISO’ at 12, 800? I say ‘dual ISO’ as it’s not official. I’ve done tests with mine and the low light is incredible.

The small grip on the A7III can be fixed with a base plate like the one from RRS or other makers. You get an extension that allows all your fingers to grip it, and you can attach the camera to a tripod without having to attach an extra adapter at the bottom.

Autofocus was only for amateurs when it didn't work. Now, I don't want to buy a camera without it.

I think one of the main reasons for 12 megapixels is the fast sensor readout, which makes it possible to record beautiful 4K 120P without line skipping or pixel binning. And obviously better rolling shutter performance too.

First review I've seen that is down on the ISO performance. It's stellar in comparison to other Sony cameras to me.

Another reason why you should love the 12 megapixel sensor, is due to the much better rolling-shutter performance.
The ISO performance is a bonus at extremely high ISO values, but it's a testament to Sony's general sensor tech that even their 24MP sensors can compete in low-light.

Less megapixels isn't just for better ISO performance, it also helps make cleaner 60P and 120P 4K due to zero pixel binning (better battery life too)

Even though I'm an M4/3 shooter.... what a TERRIFIC review. Well documented, with lots of side-by-side comparisons, and a reasonable level of "talking head" shots. This was professionally presented AND conclusive in its own way.

Just a quick question for this actual video, at 9:40 in the studio, what settings did you use for the Auto-Focus? I heard that leaving it in the middle for both sensitivity and speed works wonders.

The main point of 12mp is to have 1-to-1 4k readout, which means less rolling shutter and it makes 4k 60p/120p way easier to implement. So it's unlikely a7 iv will match a7s iii in this regard. Also it doesn't make much sense to release a new long-awaited camera and instantly cannibalize it with the next release.

13:33 I am soooo glad you did this copmarison. People still don't seem to get that pixel size makes NO differance to light gathereing and therefore noise. There are so many videos about this online but so many people still stick to what they beleive. What I find amazing is how camera companies exploit this without their bullshit being called out.

the way it looks, the a7s3 will be the king of video for a long time... about switching it all, i would wait to the a74 ;-) or test the actual durability/robustness before you switch your current set-up. Your videos have had until now some of the best production value on the video-foto youtube world (manual focus huh ;-)) so we as users are not missing out

Fantastic review with the perfect level of detail for each area. Small amounts of sample footage clearly demo important aspects of the cameras - unlike other tubers who show endless boring clips demoing some random dude’s skateboarding skilzzzz. The focusing performance side by side footage was really great and also the bird.

YouTuber camera complaints are always entertaining. Most people would love to have their problems! 'I never use the A73 because I can find the mini HDMI to HDMI is excellent

2 main reason for going 12mp is probably faster readout from the sensor and hence reducing rolling shutter problem significantly.. i guess sony just focussed on giving a perfect 4k recording camera ..but i also noticed, that the colors have very much improved and now you can rely on awb more for that extra sensor in the front...
