I would agree with you on the matte being better than glossy, however apparently when manufacturers do surveys and customer feedback tests the glossy gets a slight edge in preference. That's probably because when you look at them next to each other the colors appear more bold on the glossy screen. It's after 4 hours of using the screen you might realize the disadvantages of eye strain it brings.

Not that noisy all the time, but the fan does run more than I'd like it to.

At this time it's been updated to Windows 8. The review model had Windows 7 though.

that's probably true. Well, I reckon the perfect compromise would be the IPS matte screen with Full HD res, like in the new Zenbooks Prime ;] But these are really pricey unfortunatelly

basic acoustic reasons - the fan is shallow and has small diameter, that's why the pitch is high and quite whiny. Nevermind - would You recommend this ultrabook for work and seldom gaming (not the highest level - maybe Dirt 2, TES Oblivion, Test Drive Unlimited 2) Will it handle such titles?

The fan is definitely loud. High pitched and whiny. Pretty much every Ultrabook I've used sounds the same.

I just picked up a U310 touch. The fan noise is quite loud. Do you foresee that as a problem? (other than the noise)

Your review says it doesn't come with a SSD whereas actually it come with a 500GB SATA 5400 drive along with 32 GB SSD!!
Please correct me if I am wrong!

the wide Bessel around the screen is annoying

I just don't get it - why manufacturers keep on insisting on that glossy screens? I really wanted to buy myself an ultrabook, but a glossy screen is a total deal-breaker for me ever since I got my Thinkpad with non-reflective 1600x900 screen. It just doesn't make your eyes tired, like any glossy screen does after few hours
