This is very timely for me. I've recently realized that what's being called mindfulness meditation is object-oriented, while rinpoche's style, awareness meditation, is subject-oriented. When I meditate using awareness meditation, thoughts and feelings sometimes dissolve. In my mindfulness experience before, I focus on these thoughts and I get lost in them still.

Thank you Rinpoche. I just realized that what I have been practicing in the name of Mindfulness meditation was Awareness meditation all along.

Delightful. I love his gentle humor, and light touch. He says a lot, but simply and clearly.
As Thoreau said: Without stepping out of your dooryard, you can know the whole world.
Awareness is in us.

Your 1st video for me. Showed up in my feed, I wasn't sure for a sec when I saw the monk's robes (didn't know if this was for lay people) but I'm glad I clicked. You've explained the two practices very simply. Thank you for clarifying some of the questions I've been holding for a while. I practice Vipassana which is about object awareness and am a follower of Mooji who points to the subject. I'm drawn to the latter. Both are helpful in grounding and finding yourself. One is more direct.

Thank you for this. As always, insightful and enjoyable to listen to. Just reflecting on what I thought the difference between awareness and mindfulness was before watching the video was helpful. Watching the video was even more helpful :)

There are three states of mind. 1.Aware--2. Aware that we think-or exist-and 3. 'Aware that we are Aware' that we think or exist. It is this last state, 'aware that we are aware, ' which holds a secret. Who or what is it that is 'aware' of being aware'? Just answer this one question, and you've transcended energy matter space and time. The 'aware' part of being aware, is omnipresent, unchanging, has no location in space or time. Does not judge, criticize, condemn, praise, love, feel, for it is only a formless eternal witness, our soul, the creator if you will, the agency which manifests matter energy space and time. Spend time with this part of yourselves, and be astonished. Who is it that is 'watching' the watcher? That knows the knower?

Thank you for this video, however is mindfulness actually tight?? I think mindfulness and awareness are very closely related, if not the same, and mindfulness may not be as constricting, as this video implies. I find that just watching the breath, or any form of mindfulness, rather than focusing on concentration, just emphasizes on calming the mind and not indulging in thoughts too much. As osho said, i quote, "Neither indulge, nor suppress. Just observe." Which indeed has helped me a lot.

*"AWARENESS" existed, before anything else... It was born through, NOTHING becoming SELF-AWARE... ( "The Awakening" ) The Reason this occurred, is because NOTHING, is SOMETHING, it's just that humans can't accept this...*
*IF NOTHING wasn't SOMETHING, you would NOT be able to refer to Meditate on this for a while !*

as a programmer I approve of the object-oriented one !

Awareness is what we are, it’s our nature, Mindfulness is a tool, a practice to direct the Awareness that we are.
