U only understand external awareness, there is internal awareness which is what a spiritual awakening is. Awareness meaning the observer, example. I see my thoughts, I hear my inner monalogue, I feel my feelings. But who is the "I"? The "I" is ur higher self, the observer the awareness. This video is not good for the spiritual seeker at all, I wouldn't minde but ur opinion is so strong when it comes to Consciousness being internal and awareness external. Namaste

If you are uncomfortable about something. You do something. That is being uncomfortable

If you’re aware your uncomfortable…you’re conscious. You become awake. There is no level of consciousness. You may actually be concerned about how that is

It’s ok to become uncomfortable with things. I do not want my drawer with my clothes to go. But I wake up to it everyday

If you break down the word consciousness it means the act or state of tricking someone thru knowledge

Why then does definition say consciousness is the state of being awake or aware of ones surroundings because in the video you said their is no state of consciousness I understand what your saying yet the definition is contradicting you ....

Hello Brendan.
I hopefully get what you are saying that consciousness is an absolute nature and awareness falls into the relative domain, but I still don’t quite understand the usefulness of this distinction. It’s maybe because in my native tongue there’s only one word for both awareness and consciousness. Interesting fact, by the way, isn’t it?
What I want to say is that we already have the distinction between absolute and relative and these two words are not as loaded with different cultural meanings as consciousness and awareness.
Yes, in the end words don’t matter and it’s the direct consciousness/experience that counts but in terms of communication doesn’t this distinction muddies the waters and hinders the clarity of communication?

I am confused about what you are sharing. Are you aware of what you are sharing about consciousness?

Awareness happens within consciousness like a driver within a vehicle. Without consciousness there is no awareness or Without the vehicle, there is no driver. Awareness is the 'seer' within consciousness. With the presence of the 'seer', consciousness can learn, grow and thrive (or drive). Without the 'seer' of awareness, consciousness stumbles and eventually crashes.

Interestingly, Nisargadatta Maharaj used these terms in the exact opposite manner. In his lexicon, Awareness is absolute and Consciousness is phenomenal and relative experience. Other teachers make no distinction between the two words. There is awareness or consciousness as the absolute nature of reality, and then there is that which appears to awareness/consciousness (and is none other than awareness/consciousness).

There’s an awareness of objects, but that is an illusion …but then there’s the all pervading awareness, is which is the screen of existence. If you notice when you are aware of some thing, there’s also the awareness of its presence that is effortless.
