I'm old enough to remember this period, I was a teenager throughout the 80s. I'm pretty sure 'Shoegaze' as a term to describe a type of alternative music only came about early 90s to describe Slowdive, Chapterhouse, Swervedriver et al. We never would have described JAMC or MBV as shoegaze although I appreciate their music may have influenced the latter bands.

The late 80s/early 90s were my teenage music discovery years and bands signed with Creation records were a huge influence. I was at their 1994 Live and Undrugged event and saw Ride play (as well as a recently signed Oasis). Honestly don't remember hearing the term 'Shoegaze' at the time which is a bit odd in retrospect!

I don't think it has to be limited to a decade (83-93) because I think it exists on a lot of albums by a lot of cool bands, outside that decade, too; but I definitely support you getting the word out ABOUT those bands that were putting out those albums during those 10 (+) years. 🎉😊
