The REAL Reason You’re Not Making as Much Money As You Want

How I got here…

21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.

Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).

To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.

You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.

Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.

Never quit,

Alex

*FULL DISCLOSURE*
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

Data without actionable insights is noise, not signal, great advice.

I want to be brutally honest — you’ve been the most practical and impactful mentor I’ve encountered in the world of business. The inspiration to start my own venture came directly from your insights. Whenever I feel stuck or need direction, your videos consistently offer invaluable gems of wisdom that push me forward. From the psychology of entrepreneurship to the harsh realities of what it takes to succeed, your content provides exactly what my growing business needs.

If I achieve my goals one day, it would be an honor to shake your hand and personally thank you for being such a powerful inspiration. You’re the role model I strive to emulate, and for that, I’m deeply grateful.

Thank you for always leading by example

tl, dr: Confront the problems you're avoiding, ignore the shiny objects.
Love the deep content, Alex.
God bless you.

I learned that Alex and Leila’s content isn’t a “listen in your car” kinda content, it’s definitely a “sit and write this down” kinda content.

I swear to god, starting from today, I will only concentrate on one thing I have 4 assisted living facilities right now, and in the next 20 years in LA, I will be dominating the industry. I will have the most locations without any outside investments! Thanks to Alex ! See you in 20 years once I get to your level!

When people give me new ideas for my shop (you should already be having an online store, why don't you do events for the weekend, etc etc)

I appreciate their caring hearts, I however do take a step at a time as a team of one.

My now focus is leveraging the tourist inflow in my district to drive in store shopping for my business (instead of targeting a potential customer in a far unknown land) and I have only recently announced that I will do weekend events.

Alex telling us real time why he isn’t making as much content and using it as content is everything I needed right now.

I've overwhelmed my business partner and employees with new ideas constantly. Later to disappoint them when I decide it is not worth it. I will sit and think about my ideas now and work on my problems today. Thanks Alex

I had an employee who constantly wanted to do new things. I always told him that I have limited resources and we need to maximize the existing services and develop our existing skills so we don’t grow to the point where all we get is 1 star reviews.

Alex. I've seen you post about this before on your other socials and want you to know I've taken this particular advice very seriously

Since going full time on my side hustle I've had multiple opportunities cross my plate that were better than my previous full time positions and turning them away has been hard, but it is keeping me locked in.

Thanks for your free advice

For those of you wondering why this feels like exactly what you needed to hear, it's likely because this advice is tailored to him and that is what makes it relatable. We share similarities, or at least fall into the same category.

Flipping love the vulnerability from bro. I know Alex gets a lot of hate cause they think he’s in it for the courses or being a “guru” but I find him way dif. He’s clearly on a different page than the “buy my course” gurus. Anyone who doesn’t see that just sees surface level. I appreciate the content for sure Alex & team, it’s very encouraging for my business.

For me, having a “must do” list that I review weekly has been a great help.
