I paid my mortgage off last week and I can’t stress how good it feels and being totally debt free seems to reduce my compulsion to buy stuff.

We had an old dodge caravan we named "Zombie Molly" - my dad got it from someone who was going to junk it for the 3-400 bucks the junkyard was going to give him. That car was THE BEST, 200k+ miles 20 year old van, dented from run-ins with deer and accidents from before we got it, hubby took it out on newspaper runs every night. Always started up, got us where we needed to go, was just what we needed until we replaced it with a Honda. I still miss that car, lol. Dad also had a vehicle he called 'The Dent" - something had happened to it as a fairly new car, the owner was going to junk it and let the neighborhood kids at it with baseball bats. I don't think there was an inch of car that wasn't dented, lol. Dad bought it and drove it for years because he didn't care - it ran, served it's purpose. Bonus - when you drive cars like this, people stay out of your way for fear of an accident with you! LOL

49:50 is not accrual accounting. Accrual accounting is putting his purchases into inventory and recognizing the cost of goods at the time the item is sold. That way the revenue and the cost are recognized at the same time. Until then, his inventory sits on his balance sheet as an asset.

1:08:00 in. Not saying the mom does or does not need assisted care, but rarely does the person that needs to be in an Assisted Living or Long Term Care think they need to be there. It’s usually, and correctly, the family members that think they need to go. Dave was a little too bull headed here.

Dave Ramsey could present a show where the US National Debt of USD $34 trillion could be a subject and any ideas the US could use to reduce the debt.

Dave is like “just go get an apartment” like they don’t probably have a contract with this rent to own RV, and obviously if they could get an apartment they would have. A lot of places require first, last, security plus good credit, rental history and proof of income showing you make three times the rent. If you haven’t been working consistently, it’s hard to come up with all of that. That was probably one of the few options that they had to not end up on the streets.

1:19:25 if a new head gasket is all you need it cost 90 dollars for the part. A gear head can do it for free. It's only a 1hr job. During covid I fixed 7 cars for free they were people from my apt complex. Because my neighbors could not afford another car . I cared about my neighbors specially during uncertain time.
