HOW TO use Speech Recognition Built into Windows 10

Using a keyboard is all well and good, but it can be a hassle when you have a vision impairment and struggle to see the computer keys. In science fiction stories people can just talk to their computers, so why can't we?

Well lucky for us, we can! Windows 10 has a host of built in options when it comes to talking to your computer. In this video we take a look at some of the options for dictating and voice control, see how they work and discuss the pros and cons of each method.

The best thing about this is that these features are built right into Windows, so there's no reason not to give them a try! In future videos we will take a closer look at voice control options which allow us to control our computer with only our voice, and consider Cortana...so stay tuned to the channel!

Is there a way to have voice commands only work for one application and not have to be clicked on the application for commands to be registered?

The only problem I have with the windows speech recognition software is, I just want it to type for me. I want to click in a search box like youtube and have it type. It doesn't work like that. It is waiting for a command. There is no solution on Microsoft website for it either, I looked. And there is no way to get rid of the command function. I just want it to type, not all the bells and whistles of commands.

How do I raise the threshold for voice recognition? I have to talk VERY LOUD for it to clearly hear me. How do I raise that? I use a headset and have it right next to my mouth.

The reason it wrote "comma" is because it recognized BAD PUNCTUATION. ;-) You shouldn't put a real comma where you tried to put it. You should put a semi-colon or a coordinating conjunction and a comma. You were writing a run-on sentence, and Windows didn't like it. Yes, I'm an English teacher. Thanks for a great tutorial.
